@unknownuser said: At a total guess, it just has the flavor of one of those times you find you're doing something silly.. Check your Model Info preferences and Snap distances. Sure 'nuf Being a noob sucks. Found the problem. Mainly, not exploring the full command list. Found it in the "model info" under "units". Now I understand. It probably came from the snap setting and or the precision setting. Not only that, but I had previously "scaled" the model to stretch it, not realizing the individual "part" thickness scaled as well. I "pushed" back the face to what it was "supposed to be", but somehow the precision or snap setting rounded off inaccurately...or something to that effect. I then went on to use one of these "parts" to build another model(the one I posted)copying and push/pulling the size of the parts. The error probably just kept compounding throughout. Oh well, live and learn. Thanks for your replys. fitZ

The layers thing sounds interesting, but can probably be explained by the fact that layers only control the visibility of stuff in SU, so it must have kind of 'left it' in the model to some extent.

You can get images in SU to scale with absolute accuracy...but you need to import them as images, not textures. You then draw a line on the image of known length, such as a line across the top of a window frame, obviously, the longer the known length, the more accurate it's going to be...then group the line and image together. Entering the group, you then use the tape measure tool to measure the line. Ignore whatever value appears in the VCB, but type in the actual length and hit Enter. You will the be asked if you want to resize the contents of the group....obviously yes. Having now sized the image with absolute precision, you can place it in front of the appropriate section of the building, explode it, sample it and then paint it onto the wall.

Ryan, Another thing you want to do is to make the parts of the tables into components as soon as you can as you go along. Most of the time when I'm designing furniture I create a component from the very first geometric construction I make for a part. For example, to make a leg for a table I might start with a rectangle on the "floor". I will make that rectangle a component, double click it to edit it, then push/pull the rectangle to the height of the finished table leg. If all four legs will be the same except rotated for position, I'll copy the leg to the next location and rotate it 90 degrees to orient it properly. Then I'll copy that second leg and move it to the next location, again rotating it 90 degrees for proper orientation, and the same for the fourth leg. Now when I add a mortice to one of the legs, each of them will get a mortice on the proper face. For an apron, I will begin by drawing a rectangle at the proper location on one of the legs and (not while editing the leg) make that rectangle a component, double click to edit, and push/pull it to the next leg. The point is to make each piece into its own separate component early on. You table top, not being a component and therefore being "glued" to two of the aprons and other stuff is real hard to work on. Each piece of a drawer should be a component, and then the drawer components can be made into a component of components so you can move the drawer around as a whole entity, but you can also go in and make changes to parts of the drawer easier if need be.

Antics will probably do the job. As for animating within SU itself, I have posted some ideas in the tutorials section, utilising workarounds with layers and Face Me components. Such methods are probably nearing their sell-by date.

Another option would be to select one side of the rectangle (line) then use the move tool to move the line the required distance. You can start to move then type the distance in the Value Conrol Box and press enter. Edit: Just realized James has explained this in his 2nd posted image above

Yes, there are probably two problems with that hole: the Follow me tool is not accurate (more exactly has glitches) whit arcs running around corners and often leave those overlapping segments you can see on the top of your picture. There are workarounds for this (like using1/8 spheres to "cap" the corners). the size is most probably very small (like in millimetres) therefore facets are not closed (this is the "hole). Scale your object up with like 10 times, heal the holes and scale it back to real size.

Well, this is all that the SU Help Center says about uninstalling: http://www.google.com/support/sketchup/bin/answer.py?answer=36209&topic=13688 And this is what is says about the expiration of the Pro version: http://www.google.com/support/sketchup/bin/answer.py?answer=57943&topic=13688 It must leave some registry entries as well but I couldn't give any hints what to change (delete) in the registry.

Yes, this is the very reason I'd really like Tomasz to integrate section cuts into SU2KT for instance. Kgon, This section cut method is only good because it saves time as well as file size (you can stay with a single component). If you use the intersection method, you will need to explode all components on the corners (or at least make them unique) which is long, tedious and you end up with an unbearable file size. To tell the truth, in Kerky for instance, displacement maps are more likely to be introduced first - and they will be as good as modeling these roofs individually. But sure both section cuts and displacement maps are the frist priority on my Kerkythea wish-list, too!

Slightly faster method is to select the circles and the face, right click->intersect with selected.
