Welcome to the forum. I don't know how you created what you have but this is a simple fix with the push/pull tool. [image: IyWD_arc2.jpg] See attached. arc2.skp BTW, I am moving this to the Newbie section.

I'm not good with texturing in sketch up,but what I notice that Google Shetch Up 6 had terrible 3DS exporter,so I use Sketch Up 5,give much better and quality export...don't know maybe that's one peace of exporting problem. One more thing, some model part could be transparent after exporting,it's beacuse you need to all out faces been proper turn, when you create box or any shape make shure that are faces turn properly.

Here is the model I built. I needed to move the roof peaks from flat roof plan so I couldn’t cross connect points with lines to move it. The points were already connected with ridgelines, which needed to slope. I ended up moving each peak points using inferences. [image: nielsen.jpg]

Thanks for the reply. I've taken a look at that plugin, but from my understanding it is very discrete in the sense that you can only "move" an object a discrete number of times through the use of the "transformations" option in the right click menu. I however am reading a log file with possibly hundreds of coortdinates, and what I want to get from sketchup is a way to position a 3D object and set its coordinates as I am reading the log file. I mean, it should be quite simple to set its coordinates, then update them and get rid of the old ones etc... Is there not a way to do this through the ruby script? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Alan. I was trying to edit the component in its base file. When I insert the component into a new file, explode it, and resave it from the component browser I'm able to turn on the face-me features. It seems like there are some added steps there that slow down the workflow, but I'll live with it. Thanks again for the explanation. Wyatt

Joe, I don't think you will find a better forum around for learning SketchUp. We also have a Woodworking Forum in our Special Interests section which will probably be very suitable for you. http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewforum.php?f=156 You will need to subscribe to see it. Just go to your User Control Panel (UCP link, top left of screen) choose the Usergroups tab and select the forums which interest you. These will then show in the Special Interests section.

Thanks, I mix up Preferences and Model info time to time. They both change units but in a different context.

What's happening is there are some really small edges defining the edges of those particular trees. The style is dropping all lines under a certain length. That is more a feature of how Styles work rather than a problem. You can have some control over what threshold is used by the Style. If you edit the Style (Edit tab in the Style panel) you can make adjustments in the Edge settings. Note there is a 'level of detail' slider that can be adjusted. Also note the 'Halo' setting that can played with to alter some effects. Make your changes looking at the model so you can see what impact various settings have. Regards, Ross

Hi Shipaddict, hi folks. Normally, 3D text comes in as a component. This component will assume a normal position on whatever flat surface. However, if you are not sure or you have exploded the text, see attached SU file for ideas. Rotating 3D text.skp

Hm... This is for a PC (Windows) and maybe my translation for the terms are not the perfect. Anyway, a setup should attribute skp (and skb) files to SU by default. So right click on and skp file icon and choose "attributes" (maybe this is different - but somewhere bottom-most of the context menu) > choose the settzing that is shown in the attached image with the cursor pointing at (I have no idea what the English system would translate that) and change the attribution to SU (you can navigate to the application (C > Program Files > Google > Google SU6 > SketchUp.exe) > select and hit OK (or what). Now it should open any skp files with SU. If you are a Mac user, please say so.

Your system defines what separators you have to use. If your system is not English, you have to use a comma as a de4cimal separator and a semicolon ; as a separator for the different sides. It may be a bit painful because on my keyboard, to access the semicolon, I have to press AltGr (or Alt+Ctrl) and Ctrl for instance is a modification key in a couple of cases. The same goes with the <> or [] brakets therefore I cannot move anything to absolute co-ordinates for instance.

Take a look in our Tutorials Forum at this Topic created by Kris. There is also a part 2. This should help with some of what you are trying to achieve. Creating walls from linework
