Ok sorted out I think. I had the camera set to Parallel Projection, I think the default is Perspective. In perspective mode my FOV was like 150 degrees or so, which made it hard to use. I set this back to between 30 and 35, and the clipping has disappeared - nice one Gaieus. Thanks again, Chris Hilton South Africa

If you are applying a paint texture directly to a component or a group, every default face and line inside that comp/grp will be painted. However if you are painting individual surfaces or lines (either in edit component mode or while painting non comp/grps) then just what you click will be painted. Make sense?

If you editing same file that you share on warehouse than with shetch up just go on share model, model would be changed but all info would stay as rating and comments. But if you mada a new model most likely that you need to delete a old one.

@remus said: Just as a side note, cr*p isnt considered a particularly strong word in english, still a fair point though. Not strong, just inappropriate. You must bear in mind that owing to the relatively anonymous nature of the internet you never realy know who's reading what you post. I'm sure you have no intention of offending anyone, and there are those who may be offended. Your SU input is valuble. We want EVERYONE to benefit from it.

You should be able to by drawing over one of the segmented lines of the circle. Can you attach an image for clarification? Welcome to the forum.

Thanks Gaieus, I'll have a go at it. A bit silly that such a problem needs workarounds though.

Sometimes there will be little lines that look like they meet up, but actually don't, thus keep a face from forming. Othertimes the bounding edges are too complex in their shape for SU to realize it should have a face, othertimes its layer and group issues, etc. The list goes on and on for what can keep a face from forming correctly. A good work around it to draw a line that splits the floor in half. See if you can get 1/2 the floor to close proplerly. Then keep drawing more lines trying to get the next 1/2 to close. Eventually you will narrow it down to a small space that wont close. Zoom in really close and see if you can find lines that don't connect. Then connect them. Then delete all extra lines that you added. Or delete them along the way just to make sure its all working correctly as you go. You can upload the model to the 3d warehouse and post the link here if you still need help. Chris

Not that i know of. You might be able to select all the lines you want in a colour then paint one to get them all in the selected colour, although i havent tried it before.

This is purely speculative, but if you want to do this again you could try making the image black and white and then use a raster to vector converter to get your lines into a format SU can open.

I'm referring to the red vs the green vs the blue axis of the rotate tool. I know that you can mouse over already existing surfaces and hold the shift key to get a particular angle of the rotate tool before you click and drag. But, what if you want to rotate a multi angled shape along say... the x axis when there are no surfaces along that axis.. and you are viewing it from above via the z axis. What I'd like to be able to do is select the rotat tool, and toggle to the x axis (is it green or red? Can never remember which color is which axis) rotate tool without having to move my point of view down so that I am level with x axis line. Awhile back, I remember reading how to do that easily. Aaaand... of course, I've lost the reference to it and now I can't find the post with that info. David

Hi Remus, hi folks. Good trick about selecting the two faces. Using symmetrical scaling do the trick and you can type an exact value in the VCB. Thanks.
