I created Group, than created surface on it. So the surface itself is separate entity from Group but it is located on one of the Group surface plane. When I try to stick imported texture to this new surface, the importing texture process don’t work. The Paint Bucket icon you get when one try to attach a texture on to a point or surface turns to circle with slash in it. And it will not stick. What’s going on here?

Id guess SU is having a hard time telling wether you want to apply the texture to the group or the surface outside it. I dont think you can apply it to the group, so thats why your getting the little red circle. A pretty simple workaround would be to move the face you want to paint with the texture away form the wall and then move it back when youve finished.

On a more general note, the effect your experiencing (when 2 faces share the same "space") is called z fighting. Its best to try and avoid it when possible as it doesnt make for a clean model.

I suspected SU can’t tell where to put the texture. So I went as far as moving the grope in to different layer and made it not visible. This didn’t help. SU is still “seeing” invisible grope there. When I dragged surface to be textured away from the grope the texture did sick.

The layers thing sounds interesting, but can probably be explained by the fact that layers only control the visibility of stuff in SU, so it must have kind of 'left it' in the model to some extent.
