TIG, you always manage to say things with fewer words than I do.

Not a solution but a work around. For importing images into the skp file you can drag/drop them

I typically blur, and lighten the background image before creating the watermark or render.

Hi Whitem, The exe extension is the Windows installer. You need to download the Mac installer (with a .dmg extension) from here: http://www.kerkythea.net/joomla/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=42&func=fileinfo&id=66

Welcome! If you look for the DC sub-forum I think there are several discussions in there about this. http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewforum.php?f=289 E.G. http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=289&t=31393&p=281641&hilit=door#p281641 Also links to some example DCs in the 3d-warehouse that do this type of on-click animation too...

Thanks for the comments guys. I've learned an important lesson creating this model. I always thought components were the holy grail for a light model, turns out I was wrong... The model had way to many faces and edges because of all the components. I replaced most components with 1 single face with a .png texture. The kb's increased a little bit but the amount of faces and edges dropped drastically.

As I said, it is not a real solution if the video system is some "cheap", integrated one - but at least you can work with SU.

There exists a bulk uploader for the 3D Warehouse that allows one to add images to the upload among other things. It is intended for use by companies uploading lots of models. I used it a few years ago when I did a bunch of models for a furniture maker. I think you would have to contact Google to check availability of the uploader.

@sdmitch said: You just need to reverse the process and create the rounded part of the roof first then "slice off" the angled portion of the roof by intersecting the roof with a plane and deleting the unwanted portion. Thank You very much. It worked.

If you still want Heaven, you can use a sky dome. I posted one on this thread. It's big...but not big enough to cause the clipping. Normally, you'd only introduce it at the end...for rendering purposes. It just gets in the way, otherwise.

@unknownuser said: Do any of the new features in SU 8 allow you to cut a hole in a curved surface to make a window. If not is there a quick way of doing this. I have a flat curved wall and need window in it. Here is an old way.[image: eNyn_Temp00.png][image: NADX_Temp01.png]You still have to model a curved window.

Yes, Follow me. I made that video sorry, it was not really meant for a tutorial but a demonstration how quickly it can be done (someone said it's a nightmare to make a sphere so I had to show it's not). Some explanation for the steps: As you can see, depending on the view and position, the circle tool is either blue or green - i.e. is drawn on the horizontal or a vertical plane. You must make sure to draw the second circle exactly above the other - thus that movement to the origin to inference with it and then SU gives the tooltip "on blue axis" afterwards when I select the origin of the second circle. (If you do not do this precisely, you may end up with a doughnut shape rather than a sphere - which is also cool but not the result we want here)) Then use the select tool and click on the base circle to establish its perimeters as the path for the follow me tool Finally select the Follow me tool and click on the second circle. Sometimes it's inside out - i.e. the blue back face is outside - right click and "Reverse faces" I use shortcuts for these tools - therefore the "quick" video - the default for the select tool is the space bar button - and I think there is no default for the Follow me tool so I have a custom shortcut: the F key (which is originally the Offset tool but I set that to the O key and the Orbit tool which would be the O now does not have a shortcut...)

Or you could make a component of the rivet, and set it to "Cut opening"...please see attached SKP for a quick and dirty example [image: pTcu_Capture.JPG] Rivet example.skp

Hi Sorry for my post, I actually just found the solution Apparently Sketchup was interpreting some of the flat areas as curved in my 3D model no matter what. The irregularities were happening mostly on flat areas nearby circular volumes, I divided these specific flat areas into smaller ones and apparently it resolved the problem ! (by dividing I mean I traced different lines in these areas, so instead of having one big flat areas, I have now plenty of smaller ones, which doesnt appear in my rendering since I export everything with hidden edges)
