Hey Thanks Dave, but after doing some research over the weekend, I have narrowed it down to, Sony Movie Studio Platinum Suite 12 and Cyber Link Power Director 11 Ultra.

Each tool loads in a way that its author considers appropriate to its use. The tools' installation and activation/use are clearly explained on its download page... Each tool that has an RB file in the Plugins folder will 'auto-load' when SketchUp starts, Some tools are made as 'Extensions' - these need activating from the Preferences > Extensions list, after they are first installed. This is appropriate for more complex tools - you can switch then on/off this way, although the Extension that's 'off' only becomes unavailable after SketchUp is restarted. Some tools have a Toolbar - activated from its View > Toolbars entry. Clicking on the buttons runs various aspects of a tool's operation. Many tools have entries in one of the standard SketchUp menus, or submenus within them. These items allow you to set a shortcut-key to them - in the same way that you can with the native-tools. Many 'tools' will appear in the Plugins menu. However, some are regarded as 'Tools' or 'Draw' items and can appear there. Also some are to do with File, View/Camera etc... Some tools are accessible from the right-click context-menu. Usually these are only displayed or not-disabled [grayed-out] when specific conditions are met - for example a tool that only works when 'one group' is selected might only display when you have 'one group' selected. Some very specialized tools don't even appear in any menu or toolbar - these are activated by typing commands into the Ruby Console - they are for a one-off use in unusual circumstances when a menu item would be rarely used... So... read the tool's usage notes and use them as indicated...

@webman said: Hi, thanks for replying. I tested your suspicion... It was no suspicion. Peter has it covered nicely. I expect you're getting something like this? [image: 9B8t_cuts4.png] Which, if you don't stop the Push/Pull at the opposite face, it will continue extruding. The correct use of Push/Pull would be to either click on the opposite face to stop the extrusion or, if you know the thickness of the wall, start the extrusion in the right direction, let go of the mouse and type that distance followed by the Enter key. Thank you Peter for the nice words and for posting the videos.

If you do a search [try in Developers' Forum ?] I'm sure that thomthom has recently made a scripted fix for this known '1 hour error in UTC' issue - at least until it's properly resolved...

No "Plugin" that I am aware of. If the Diagrid is regular, then draw up a single segment as a component, and then replicate it to form the overall model.

To deform faces, I found very useful, fast and simple to use this tool: TGI3D: move [image: ve3typ.png] It is much more better then LSS deformation functions which are too slow (and create extra group, which is not needed in my case)

@scrubbrush said: ....I found a tut that said all you have to do is use the move tool on the midpoint of an arc and you can change the bulge. all my arcs are still intact but they are full of endpoints and not main mid point. any attempt to use the move tool moves the entire arc. any one know what's going on? If your arc has an even number of segments, then, as Dave suggested, use the 'Move' tool (nothing selected previously though) to move that endpoint in the middle of the arc. If your arc has an odd number of segments, than you should look for the midpoint right in the middle of the arc, to perform the 'Move' operation to change the bulge. If your arc is grouped, then enter its editing context (double click on it) to be able to change the bulge.

Thanks, jgb, that's a valuable tip. I already ran into similar problems not related to intersect faces quite some time but it's highly appreciated you add that here. very important. Thanks, Frank

@superchaos said: @dave r said: Well, I think you've got several problems. [attachment=2:2wg2k1rc]<!-- ia2 -->lamp (1).png<!-- ia2 -->[/attachment:2wg2k1rc] First, the photo of the lamp isn't quite as straight on as it needs to be. Second, your lamp base isn't a perfect match to the the photo. Your lamp is not as slender as the one in the photo appears to be. Actually I like the shape you drew better but it doesn't match the lamp so it isn't surprising that you are getting the results you are. Any chance you can get a better photo and the real dimensions off the lamp? I think I would just paint the lamp with a brushed metal texture and not try to use the lamp photo at all. By the way, for something like this you might find it easier to work in fractional inches rather than in Architectural units. Tried it again. Here is the photo of the lamp and tried the other template but it was cutting the top off for some reason after using the follow me.So maybe it's just too hard to get a perfect mach and detail in this situation that this is the outcome in this one too? Thank you, Dave. But I think it`s the best way to make some component uniques.
