Changing line color?
-
When tracing a floor plan, it would be helpful if I could change the line color that SketchUp draws to make it easier to see. I've tried changing the edge color via edge styles, but the new color doesn't "take" when i draw lines over the plan. Any thoughts as to what I'm doing wrong?

Dave explained his workflow containing a color change of lines in the linked tutorial (nice one ) in this post:

Thanks cotty. I actually did see that tutorial earlier! Thing is, after going through those steps, my lines (edges) aren't showing up red.

You have to be missing something somewhere. Could you post a screen shot of the Styles box showing the edit settings for Edges?

dave -i go to windows/styles and click on edge settings. i get the color wheel, pick red, but it doesn't "take." the preview stays black, just like the lines. what am i doing wrong? thx.

In that image you haven't yet changed the color. It's still set to black. Slide the lider to the right of the color wheel up to the top. Then click OK.
It's a little thing but I prefer the RGB sliders to the color wheel. Click on the drop down arrow to the right of 'Color Wheel' and choose 'RGB ' to get the sliders.

Ah, that's the secret. Pulling the slider down. I hadn't even noticed it before! I was just clicking on the color wheel and waiting for great things to happen, lol. Thanks so much!
