IMVU = chat, games, social type site thing with avatars IMVU Home - for all those of us that have no clue what IMVU is. Now, on to the question. Sounds like an IMVU problem. Is there a way to specify that the image should not "tile" in IMVU?

Here's a great way to send someone a drawing, although it is a bit complicated. But compatibility is all but guaranteed. This requires Adobe Acrobat Pro, FYI, something that a lot of folks have around, and Meshlab, which is Open Source. Make a blank document and save it to PDF. I typically make mine 16:10, as that's the aspect ratio that I'm working at (so I make a custom 16"x10" doc, no margins, in Word). Open that in Acrobat Pro. Go to SketchUp, select the parts of the model that you want to send (or the entire thing), and export as OBJ. I use the following options: Export only current selection Triangulate all faces Export two-side faces Swap YZ coordinates (Y is up) In Meshlab, import the OBJ file, and choose Export Mesh As. Save it as a .U3D file. For this example, I choose no options. Open your blank PDF in Acrobat Pro. Then do the following: Choose Tools>Multimedia>3D Tool. You'll get a crosshair cursor. Make your view port with this. I typically fill the entire screen. Acrobat will pop up a file requester dialog. Enter the .U3D file path there. Select Advanced Options. Enter the following options: Launch Settings: Enable When: The page content is opened. 3D: Background color: White 3D: Lighting Scheme: White Lights 3D: Rending Style: Solid (try playing with the other settings for your purposes) 3D: Show toolbar: (checked) See attachment. It works in any recent Adobe Acrobat reader. This file copyright Jonathan Hirschman, all rights reserved. Free to redistribute for non-commercial use.

I apologize for misreading your avatar information, where I thought I saw Sketchup 7, when in fact that is Windows 7 and Sketchup 8. That being said, your further clarification will help to bring out the respondents you seek. My best regards, mitcorb.

Yes. That's the link. Sorry. I went to bed after my last post. I wasn't thinking about the copyright but more the ethics. I think it would be ethical to talk to him before you start posting rewrites of his plugin.

Simple: buy version 8 pro ! Or you can continue to use v7 pro to do the dwg/dxf imports and then continue working on that SKP file with v8 free. You can have different versions of Sketchup installed on the same computer - v8 will open SKP files by default, BUT you can 'save_as' to v7 from a v8 SKP, if you find you need v7 pro tools not available in v8 free... Version 7 can't open v8 SKP files but v8 can open v7 SKP files AND also save v8 SKP files as a v7 SKP.

I think you can get this result with layers in the gimp or photoshop. Yo make a realistic render and overlay a line drawing from sketchup.

there are a lot of ways to create curved shapes in SketchUp and the exact process you use is dependent to some extent on the shape. It might be that Follow Me will do what you need or you might stitch curves together manually. There are a number of plugins that will automate the stitching process based on the curves you have. You could look at TIG's Extrude tools and Whaat's Artisan or TGI3D. Take a look in the Plugins forum as well as the Organic forum for more information on these sorts of tools.

Hi Jack, You would require as many floating licenses as you need for the number of computers you want to render from at any one time. Ie; if you have 5 workstations and you would want all 5 to be able to render at the same time, you'd need 5 floating licenses. However, if only two of the five needed concurrent rendering access at any one time, then only two floating licenses are needed. The beauty is, any of the workstations can send rendering jobs to the server, as long as only two of the five are doing it in this example. The licenses are controlled at the server so it's a simple setup. No muss, no fuss. If you need more workstations to render concurrently, then you can incrementally add floating licenses as needed. This scales nicely and can help match your growth without overspending on licensing costs. Here's a reference: http://www.indigorenderer.com/features/floatinglicences As for SU Pro, I don't believe so. I checked the Indigo site and a few others but didn't find anything requiring SU Pro. The Skindigo exporter plugin works with both free and Pro versions. SU 8 IS required however. The reason I was suggesting just getting a dedicated server is because I have experience in building a rendering farm. Some years ago I built a farm that used POVray over a network using Erlang. At the time I was learning the Erlang language and I had always wanted to build a rendering farm. While the project was successful, it required a lot of tweaking and such to get working decently. Personally, I think Indigo's network rendering solution is robust, efficient and would give you a very good ROI. Cheers.

Why didn't you post the question in the thread to which it relates Please repost in the relevant thread... Although I suspect that you want a specific tool that's within a set which contains several tools, we have no idea what it is you are trying to do. You need to explain a little more about what it is that you want, and what problems you are having - we will help you, but please help us too... Saying 'I'd love to be able to do it...' doesn't help! Do what?

You need Fredo's RemoveLonelyVertices http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=332047#p332047 It works fine - I just tested it in the same circumstances... Incidentally if the edges endpoints show up like that it's not a continuous curve - so has it been exploded ?

As far as that goes, if you choose to export as an animation, you can choose JPG or PNG as the export type and, under Options, choose the image size. You'll get an export of every scene.
