@solo said: Post this problem here: http://www.thearender.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=63 A solution will follow. I cannot be certain but uninstalling it should work (removing any Thea files from plugin folders manually also) and deleting some stuff in the 'app data' folder (this is the part I'm not sure of) Thanks for your reply I have posted the problem in the Thea Forum. The problem is posted there from a previous version and I followed the instructions around deleting the path text file but unfortunately SU does not offer me another option to choose the path. Peter

Did that give you thickness of did you let the plugin remove the original faces? It looks like the latter.

You're welcome. Another thing I find helpful is to zoom in a bit and sometimes I'll put in crossing guidelines that intersect at major points to make it easier to snap the line tool where I want it. You might also find it easier if you disable Length Snapping in Model Info>Units.

If you have the real world location you should be able to geo-locate you SKP and then import the land-form including a mesh. Then you can model building on top of that... You'll need to add trees etc too... You'll need v8 Pro to do this effectively... There are several good tutorials out there - as a simple Google search will show - e.g. http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=36241

Awsome thanks.. I't seem that there are really a lot of small subtleties that you have to know or it will feel like bugs. Something like punching holes in a wall are dependant on stuff that aren't exactly logical at first?

You have your DC's definition, so why not use dcdefn.entities.add_cpoint(point) so that then it is part of the DC ??

@unknownuser said: One thing some people do to find the waste is export your model as a .kmz model. Then manually go to the file and change the extension from .kmz to .zip and open the zip folder. You'll see a breakdown of all the subcomponents which can quickly let you see if you have any large image files eating up space. -Brodie Thanks, Brodie Opening the .kmz folder was most helpful for me! Yup, its an encrypted ruby script. Just put it in the plugins folder and it will load. Is it a SketchUp plugin? Or is it something developed for Ruby outside of the sketchup world?

Sometimes even new computers ship with outdated drivers. You can try to upgrade the display driver (download the latest from ATI) and hope for the best. Check that the settings like Antialiasing and Anisotopic filtering and other 3D-related settings in the display control panel are set to "application controlled" or equivalent. Some very old ATI cards performed better if "Fast Feedback" in the SU Preferences>OpenGL settings was turned off. Just suggestions. Anssi

Thanks for the answer and sorry for the late reply: That plug-in didn't do what I needed, but I find an easy way of getting the view angles I needed; I rotated a square and made it the view angle. Pretty simple. Hope this helps someone else.

What's up? The zipped set should just extract into a temporary folder [say on your Desktop] and then you move the entire contents of that temporary folder into the Plugins folder - there should be 13 .rb files to move over, AND make sure the other files in the TIGtools subfolder in the zip-file remain in their TIGtools subfolder that you put inside Plugins too... Tip: check that you have proper permissions [access rights] to add files to the Plugins folder...

For small details like that, scale the model up by a factor of 100 or 1000. This will help prevent the missing faces. Another approach to putting the bevels on would be to draw a cone at the sharpening angle and intersect it with the drill. [image: IXqq_drill.png] For something like this model, I find it helpful to think in terms of how the bevel would be put on the real object. For a drill you would do that with a grinder and rotate the drill rod. The surface of the cone represents the contact line between the wheel and the drill.
