@deskpilot said: Not sure if there's another thread for this but, isn't there a fix for SP and SU2014 yet? I have loaded the program but it just won't run. Searching the net and one sees various suggestions to open CMD files etc but we're not all pc literate. An suggestions folk? This happens because Newton physics SDK clamps the body moments of inertia. There is no way of fixing this other than splitting the pipe into smaller 1m pipes and connecting them with a fixed joint, but it still won't work as good as expected.

Thank you, that seems to be exactly what I need. In case anyone is wondering, the object I am trying to model is responsible for the whip cracking/banging type sound that is heard from the wingtip vortices just after the aircraft has flown over. The scientists do not even know about this object so I am trying to recreate it to show everyone. I have officially called it an "ENDPLUG" - single word.

Very well, although you might want to transfer to SP3.4 : http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=61%26amp;t=58936

I recently downloaded a trial version of Sketchup Pro Version 14 (I am on a Mac platform) and the program crashes frequently. I am using Twilight Render but even without using the render program it crashes. My experience with earlier versions was very stable, I am even looking for an earlier version to try. Also exactly what is Sketchup SP. I use Blender and Lightwave but Sketchup seem so much easier to use. By the way there is also no BUG SPLAT when it crashes, any ideas on how to fix this? You have to do it the other way. Follow these steps: Enable recording Start simulation Reset simulation at desired time. It will ask you to save animation. Press YES. Then use the replay tool to get yourself to the desired frame. After you do so, press the replay button once again to pause and the objects will be left in their new positions. Note that the replay tool adds quite a lot of memory to the model, so use SketchyReplay->Erase Recorded Animation once you're done pausing SP animation at desired scene.

Would be great if the modifications for camera recording (Mr.K.) could be integrated in to the improved version of SP by AntonS, if it isn't yet.

I have provided an example. The top box and piston are first connected to each other and then made into a group. The bottom box is then attached to both the bottom piston and the top piston. This can get cumbersome but one can nest probably 5 deep to theoretically allow control of rotations as well as tranlations. double piston

Select all 3 stair sections, got to right click menu, SketchyPhysics -> State -> Not Collidable. FYI, SketchyPhysics 3.3 in out: http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=61%26amp;t=58567

@anton_s said: Setup: Your servo must be created within the main body. Your hinge must be created within the first arm. Then use the joint connection tool to: Connect servo to the first arm. Connect hinge to the second arm. Don't forget to set the main body static. This will prevent it from moving. If they still don't behave properly then scale up the bodies. It seems your measurements are too small. [image: SketchyPhysics%20Connecting%20Joint%20Tutorial.gif] If you can't figure out, post the model, i'll fix it. thank you so much this has helped me fix my problem! also, each of the pieces in my model were between 2 and 5 millimetres thick

I have tried all of the above: installed SU7 with sketchyphysics plugin, saved the file in 7-format and tried to run it in 7. No other plugins installed in this version. But it crashed. So I started to design again from scratch in 8.0, started a new file and when I start to run the simulation, it crashes. It does not happen in other projects so I guess it has something to do with the way I designed the object. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzgoaQHxd3uRdnE5Z2pYR21KSDQ/edit?usp=sharing [image: J7co_swingingdoor2.jpg] I am trying to design a simple Torggler-door with one rod: http://torggler.co.at/main/systems.html

@ owen1204: To help you, we need more information about your workflow. What settings did you use in Twilight to run the rendering of the SketchyPhysics animation?

Explode the groups that make up your rocks, re-group them, then change to convexhull. I'm not kidding, I have had the same issue you are having and this has fixed it in the past

@mptak said: Sketchy Physics does not do very well with voids or holes. In this particular case you need to effectively build and group around the slot either with boxes or usually incremental convexhulls (wedges) at the corners. I'll do a quick rebuild and post it up. The other way is to attached things with the fixed joint as was done in the attached file but this is pretty rough. One thing that particularly helps in debugging models, especially ones with holes or slots is to turn on the debug readback collision geometry for assorted geometry. Thanks for the help I'll keep it in mind.
