Never, ever, ever, ever, ever copy joints. It just... doesn't work. 2)You don't actually change the joint's name, but rather, you change the joint's controller. Open the UI (the button is on the same toolbar as play/pause) and select the joint you want to change. In the box labeled 'controller', remove the joint's name and type something else. That is what the slider controlling it will then be called. To control two things with the same name, just type the same controller. The joints don't have to be the same kind for this to work. I hope this helps!

As far as I can tell it works fine. There was one issue that they fixed during beta. If anyone finds anything that doesn't work, let me know.

I understand the huge effort needed in order to write the plugin. But, I'm sure that many of us would be interested to have such a feature implemented. A way to save the joints inside the .skp file during export, such that you can re-import those objects inside google earth (by making use of the API) and keeping the physics (together with the joints). I was thinking maybe we can start a post in order to see if such a feature would be interesting and possible ways how to adapt the google earth api (maybe a plugin?) so that it can understand physics in the same way that SU does by using the sketchyphysics plugin.

Because concave solids are a LOT harder and slower to do physics on. @platypus5 said: I was wondering. Why is it that the collision system in Skecthyphysics works the way it does. Why is it that it can't use the wireframe of the mesh to create a concave collisian border for the object?

@cphillips said: I think I understand a bit better. But probably no. The fact that everything is controlled by a black box physics engine means that precise timing isn't really possible. Then I guess I, and possibly Livra, will have to go with javascript - shame really, SketchyPhysics seems much more exciting! Thanks Chris

The Wiimote hack works by emulating the joystick (and mouse I think). In that respect you can control things with a .dll. "Just" make a joystick emulator that accepts the inputs from whatever your controller is and translate to DirectX joystick values. It will probably be a bit easier to do what you want in SP3.

Possible, but not likely soon. I would have to write a render.

All good ideas and I'll put it on my list. But I don't think it will make SP3.

Yes. A piston or a servo can be made to oscillate. If I remember correctly you set the controller to be: oscillator,100 To cause it to go from 0 to 1 over 100 frames. See an example like the laser beam mentioned in a thread on this forum.

Interesting. I have looked at several visual programming languages but never heard of this one. There are several things I like about the idea and a few I don't. First it is simple and pretty powerful. Second it is something of a standard and well documented. You can find examples and get help. But even though it seems simple to me I wonder if the average SP user could make heads or tails of it. Its pretty esoteric. Also, I would have to write a parser (and probably editor) in Ruby. I couldnt find an existing one and I dont want to be dependent on any more c++ code than I have to. I haven't decided how to go about adding logic to SP yet. But this is in the running. Thanks! Chris

Are you sure?? I dunno, I made it ages ago. Worked fine until I selected the whole lot and used the rotate tool. Maybe I scaled it afterwards...

Ah. So how are these physics components gonna work? Can they be connected to anything external, or must all their workings be inside?
