@ntxdave said: These are really neat..... What tools/plugins did you use to produce the skp model? I pretty much use Sketchup only creating the shape of the terrain and spaltmaps that I use for texturing the terrain Unity 3D. When modeling terrain I mainly use Topo Shaper plugin, which is great when working with contour lines.

Thanks for suggestion I had totally forgot Zorro! The problem is that it seems to get me bug splat quite often. Maybe that is because my geometry is quite complex so I have examine my model a little.

Thanks for pointing up this Helix along curve plugin! This does exactly what I was trying to do. Also in general this seems to be really great plugin. Hopefully this functionality will be added to some of the offset plugins if there are more people benefiting this.

Well, I see in the source several problems: Most likely suspect: Set.rb - it includes the Set class from the Ruby Standard Library which is incompatible with SketchUp's own Set class. There are modifications made to the core Kernel class, Object and Module. (And Fixnum and String) That's not including what REXML might do - it's quite a large library, and terrible slow! I think the Set.rb file is added for the sake of ReXML. I'd suggest you contact the author and point out the incompatibilities the plugin causes. Post back link to this thread so the author can see the full story. To the author or this plugin, should you read this - please have a look at this article I wrote about developing plugins for SketchUp: http://www.thomthom.net/thoughts/2012/01/golden-rules-of-sketchup-plugin-development/

Thanks a lot, that intersect with model didn't come to mind at all. Also, I was thinking about model directly with thickness but it is much easier to create the stripes flat first and then use push push/pull.

@edson said: @miikka1978 said: Here is what I found in Unity 3D forum. Maybe this could be beneficial for Sketchup users. Ürban PAD is a smart modeler for creating 3D buildings and cities faster. You should be able to export buildings or city to game engine (UDK/Unity 3D) or 3D software (FBX and Collada export). They are offering Ürban PAD for special price $29 (Indie license). Note, this deal will only take place if certain number of licenses are sold before October 2, 2011. I don't know the company before, so I can't really say anything about the trustworthiness of them. http://www.gamr7.com/init/urban_pad/special hi mikka, I apologize for my dumbness but what is an Indie license? Indie license means that there is restriction that companies or incorporated entities that had a turnover in excess of US$100,000 in their last fiscal year must use Ürban PAD Pro. Normally Indie license costs $700. Pro license seems to cost $ 7000.

Just a little warning... Before you use the Stamp tool on your huge terrain you should select an area slightly larger than your bunker, and group it (temporarily). Then you stamp the bunker into that group and do your adjustments, and finally ungroup the area again. This will save you a lot of time, and also probably from memory/crashing problems.. Another option is to use the Drape tool, and/or Tools on Surface with Offset etc. Drape often causes lots of unwanted/unnecessary edges/ngons, which may be avoided by using the ToolsOnSurface tools.

@dave r said: Late last night I got the DXF files back from the PDFs I submitted to CometDocs. Unfortunately the single lines were all doubled so they weren't usable floor plans. Ah well. It probably works for some. That's the problem with many pdf site plans etc; that lines with a thickness (which is often all of them) gets converted to double lines. When I get pdf files I usually load into PS, with a resolution like 100 dots per cm. Then it's easy to get it into SU with the exact size/scale maintained. That's OK for us metric guys anyway, which according to a report I just read, is every country in the world except Liberia, Burma and USA

I was actually trying to find their development roadmap when I stumbled on this. It looks like cool software, and I was interested if they had exporters in the plan. This kind of puts the breaks on for me. But I still have the "Fur" plugin.

Check out their forums as in the showcase section there are unbelievable things. There is a Plugins section (on the top) with all sorts of free and commercial plugins, too. Also, they have an additional software: "Flashificator" (actually, more pricey than the core itself I think some € 55) which has some intuitive UI for editing everything like hotspots. I have not tried them yet but want to. I am hoping to have a decent (pay) project soon where I will use this software and then I will definitely buy that additional thing. Edit; if you purchase the software, it will be shipped with all sorts of example projects and tutorials, too.

Here are a couple of laminate textures that I have taken from http://www.krono-original.com/. Basically, I have used Krono's floor studio and taken a Print Screen, and then I have edited the image with Gimp. Also, I have used Bricks'n Tiles software to create seamless textures. Probably these textures are not usefull for professional use but for hobbyists they should be quite ok. @miikka1978 said: Is there a plugin that creates a construction point in the end of each line (line that is not connected to anything) in the model? I am trying to create a 3D mesh (terrain). I have created lines (with Three Line Tools Plugin) that indicates the height of the terrain in each location. Now, I would like to create a construction point in the end of each line and then use Points to Mesh Plugin to create a terrain. Look at the assembly plugin from lss2008 ... "Create 3d mesh from construction points" http://lss2008.livejournal.com/22807.html @unknownuser said: Here an intermediate option, which is ready today: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4885828/lss_toolbar_1_1.zip before unpacking (or, after) should be removed from the Plugins folder, all the old versions manually (they are now all in the folder will be 'lss_tools' and so when unpacking the surface is not written down)
