Software for making cubic movies
-
Do you have any software suggestions for making Quicktime VR (QTVR) cubic movies? See examples from Gaieus (a Roman basilica or a Medieval church) in other Sketchucation thread. I would like to able to create cubic movie from single spherical render. I have been considering for example PanoCube (http://www.panoshow.com/panocube.htm), but it seems to be complicated to install/use. What free or cheap softwares you are using when making these cubic movies.

Not exactly panocube but yet funny from a simple imageelse you have the plug Cubic panout by J. Wehby

Cubic Pano Out is indeed a good app. In fact, similar to the spherical export for the basilica, I also made some with that (and stitched the images together with GoCubic - also suggested on the plugin page).
If you plan to use it with raw SU output, turn off shadows and only leave "Use sun for shading" on otherwise the top and bottom images will be darker (this is some old SU bug I first met in version 5)
Here is one where you can even see the 6 faces (slowly) downloading. With the 6 individual images I can export a bigger image surface altogether and this one was meant to be displayed on a presentation (no online) thus the big file size and slow download.

Thanks for the answers. I finally got the PanoCube to work. It is really easy to use once you get it installed. The link that Pilou pointed out helped a lot when trying to figure out how to install the software. I also found this (http://gardengnomesoftware.com/index.php) software (cost about 70 euros) for making cubic movies. But, since I got PanoCube working I probably stick with that.

If you really want to pay money for software, you should rather check this out (I think it's about β¬ 45 or so):
http://flashpanoramas.com/player/This is the one I use in those panoramas but it is extremely powerful and you can practically add whatever you want.

Gaieus, have you ever tried to create hotspots for you panoramas? I quickly tried to find out how to make hotspots with FlashPanorama but I couldn't find any examples or tutorials. Anyway, it seems that there are several plugins for making hotspots and all kinds of stuff. Based on the tutorials for Pano2VR (http://gardengnomesoftware.com/tutorial.php), creating hotspots seems to be really easy. But, the price is about the double compared to FlashPanorama.

Check out their forums as in the showcase section there are unbelievable things. There is a Plugins section (on the top) with all sorts of free and commercial plugins, too.
Also, they have an additional software: "Flashificator" (actually, more pricey than the core itself I think some β¬ 55) which has some intuitive UI for editing everything like hotspots.
I have not tried them yet but want to. I am hoping to have a decent (pay) project soon where I will use this software and then I will definitely buy that additional thing.
Edit; if you purchase the software, it will be shipped with all sorts of example projects and tutorials, too.
