@gΓ‘bor said: @john2 said: Gabor - my plugins were manually downloaded in chrome and copy pasted in sketchup version 8 and as TIG said those don't get recognized by plugin store since they are not downloaded via store interaface. I'm not understanding your statement. John, I suppose you have the SketchUcation Pluginstore Plugin installed? ( http://sketchucation.com/resources/plugin-store-download ) If yes, and you launch it, you will see a list of the latest 20 plugins. If in the first dropdown you select the "Full list" option, it will show you the list of all plugins available in the PluginStore. If you scroll down in this list to the plugin what you want to install and press the "Autoinstall" button, the plugin will be installed. It will also register your PluginStore download and next time you'll be able to see this new plugin in your Bundles list. I know this, are you being sarcastic? @pbacot said: Looks like one of your problems is the rotated box tool. If you look in the SUcation Store, it was last updated last year. So perhaps it isn't compatible. Each entry gives an update date. However that doesn't mean it won't work. Looks like you had problems with two plugins, and their names are in the error report. Unfortunately you'll have to look around for more info on the tool--the link in the SUcation store for more info on the rotated box tool is bogus. So a search in the forum gives this: http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323%26amp;t=45806 Oh it's been updated. Just didn't make it into the store yet. On Compo Spray You can see in the store it has not been updated in a long time. My process was, click to the Forum thread. Look at the latest entries--another person has the same problem--and no answer is given. You can assume this one will continue to give you trouble. I also checked at the ruby "library depot", where D. Bur also offers plugins, and it is not updated there. So what should I do to use these 2 plugins for sketchup 2014? Or there is no way? The only way is to downsave your file to version 8 and then work?

The Plugin Store installs plugins to the correct directory based on the operating system and SU version and, importantly, maintains the correct file structure which historically has been difficult for many people to do manually. Read any of the long threads in the Plugins forum for proof of that. With SU2014 the correct location to be putting plugins is under Users/App Data. The beauty of this is that you don't need to be concerned with the location because it is handled autmoatically The Extension Warehouse does the same sort of thing. Of course with the Plugin Store plugin there's a number of tools for managing the plugins once you have installed them but first things first.

Unfortunately the saved 'sent' messages expire about a week too late. So I can't re-get that file. I also can't find it on my system - too many rebuilds, new PCs etc ! You could look at rewriting parts of color_by_slope... Swapping its 'Z' rules for angle=face.normal.angle_between(Z_AXIS) with some if test rules like angle >= 1.degree etc However, I think @sdmitch probably has something... look here... his site: http://sdmitch.blogspot.co.uk/ download: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bw8zdmaKDWIfYTA5MzlmMjktODY5Mi00YjYxLWEwOTEtOTVmMDIwODIxNjhj/view?ddrp=1%26amp;hl=en_US tutorial: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bw8zdmaKDWIfMThmYTgxNWItZTM1Ny00MDAwLWE2ZDgtZGU5YzcwOTgxNDkx/view?ddrp=1%26amp;hl=en_US

When reading this a thought came to my mind - how does SketchUp shadows work? Isn't it a graphic representation of the angle between sun and the face. And it is smooth. The same could be used in this case. Sorry if I am talking nonsense. I am not the TIG

Once you sort out your face orientation you may find TIG's Section Cut Face plug works as expected. The only edit I usually need to apply is to delete unwanted faces which obscure the room, all my other voids close as expected.

Hi John, hi folks. For this to work you need two things: 1 - That the two face defining your wall are perfectly parallel to each other. If the wall has been created by pulling up a rectangle with the Push/Pulltool, this should not be a problem. 2 - That you stop the pushing action exactly on the opposite wall. If you use an inference from any endpoint or edge or the face itself of this opposite wall, this should not be a problem either. Remember that you can orbit, pan, zoom, change view, change rendering mode, change scene, etc. even in the midle of any drawing, moving, rotating, scaling, etc. operation. In short, you can start pusing the rectangle for the opening on one face of the wall and then, while the pushing action is still in progress, orbit so that you are now seeing the opposite face of the wall and then complete the pushing operation using an inference from this face. Just ideas.

@hellnbak said: No Dave, I'm not saying that purging is a replacement for ensuring that your hardware is up to the task. All I'm saying is that when I'm working on a model and the textures start disappearing when I move or orbit it, or movement gets sluggish, even if I have changed nothing in the model and have done nothing since the last purge but move the model around a lot, purging does alleviate the problem. Not permanently, but certainly long enuf for me to get on with my work. yeah that's happening to me too! ditto

@stefanq said: John, follow this link http://www.lithonia.com/photometrics.aspx and download all photometric data files. As you can see, there are some categories for different type of applications, indoor, outdoor, commercial, etc. Use that free viewer and browse only the category of ies files that you need. The viewer is quite fast, it renders the cone of light in a sec. Cheers, Stefan thanks and about ies lights , do you ever change the power or the size of IES lights? i'm trying to adjust lights in one scene of a showroom, and they are giving a burnout kind of look. [i'll post a view of it soon]. if i lower the intensity to 100,000, the scene becomes dark, if i increase the intensity to 300,000, the scene looks like lighting of fireballs in the dark. i'm not able to get the lighting as seen in various photos like this apart from IES should a rectangular be also used? a rectangular light interferes with my abstract ceiling pattern .
