Cool! Hey, it also works with the rotate tool! You can use it to array or divide an object around a circle or an arc!

@bsfranza said: with sketchup 2020 we now have isolate which is pretty cool... and toggle visible active (whatever thats for - i have not found out what this is intended for so far) ... Those are not native commands that are new to SU2020. They come from an extension that you installed. @bsfranza said: make it possible to unhide all recursively except for softend edges ... So you want to unhide everything including hidden edges or faces? What if there are intentionally hidden edges and faces that need to remain hidden?

Well to the wonderfully horrible clipping issue. Complaints about it are all over the "dead" forums. I do a lot of work with 100's of acres sites and large satellite groundplanes. Clipping is the bane of my existence. Often time, I have to have two models, one with everything and one that just has the part of the site I am currently working on because clipping is so bad. Lots of component reloads to get the big model updated. I know that other large site softwares display no clipping (Vue, for one) and I have never heard one reason for why Sketchup does clip. I would not hold your breath for this issue to be fixed and figuring out good work arounds is your best (only) bet.

Kelly, Fortunately for me, my computer doesn't have any knees, so I guess I dodged a bullet that time. Nonetheless, thanks for the tip, -Gully poster-Gully Foyle

It reminds me of how the downstairs used to look at my dad's house. We had the parkay floor and the wood bar. Complete with brass rail and "mood" lighting above the bar.

Thanks all! Howard Leslie, I think i'll try the bezier curve method to draw the edges and see what I get. I still haven't seen any tuts that allow control of the curve. This would be an improvement in my curvy modeling skills if I can figure this one out. understanding how to do more curvy things was one of my goals for thsi year I'm arware of the soapskins powers. It's the curve edge that I need to control and bezier just may give me that I hope. My assumed method is as follows. located columns in plan. draw columns as one line initially (to be line2cylinder later)at given length. tilt column to desired degree. rotate column to desired degree. connect tops of lines with bezier curve using one of the bezier scripts? after edges are designed used sopaskin (it's a beautiful thing!) to create mesh. smooth mesh. Is this the way to execute? If I have missed something let me know. I'll try it when I have time tonight.

That's useful, but if it could be in the same order as the outliner, that would be sweet.

I have a shapefile with building footprint features, each with a building height and ground elevation. I am trying to import it cleanly into Sketch Up, but am having some difficulties. I get the whole selection part etc etc. I choose elevation from the elevation field, extrusion from the height field, etc. etc. What happens whoever is that once the import is done and I am looking at it in Sketch up, most of it has not imported. I'd say that perhaps 25% of the footprints are showing & extruded. I haven't been able to figure out why some import and most don't - I am wondering if there is something wring with the attributes. Does anyone know if there are guidelines to be followed for the field type, length etc? Any input or ideas would be appreciated. (I'd post screenshops but I don't know how to). Any suggestions? Thanks (PS am relatively new here) ~ A
