Ha! The naughty kids must have clicked everywhere they reached and then forgot to reset the rendering styles! I want serious punishment! Now! Joking aside; I think in a couple of weeks you're going to learn from them. How old are they? (ah yeah, middle school - all right...) I have some experience with kids ranging from kindergarten to college. They are indeed great!

Not at all, bug report away. I assume that I am not the only person with this problem so if it helps I am happy to have my model submitted.

It's at Window (at least on the PC) > Styles > In model (the little house icon) > Edit > Edge settings. But profiles are just set o 3 pixels so it shouldn't explain that huge difference!

Go to Window>Styles>Edit>Edge and deselect Profiles. This should help a little. Regards, Bob

Thank you for the reply. Although the simple test does not recreate the situation. In simple situation it works (that's why I used this method to extract points of interest positions from a model). In any case, I gave up on this approach not just due to technical aspects, but as conceptually not appropriated in my case.

Peter, yes. I drew the leg up to the point where I was ready to run Follow Me. Actually I drew it half thickness. I included a 1/4" radius are at the end of the path where the router would stop. Then I scaled it way up before running FM. I scaled it up by measuring the 7/16" thickness with the Tape Measure tool. I enter 1000 and hit enter to scale it up. After running Follow Me, Intersect and deleting waste, I measured that same line again, Entered 7/16 and hit Enter to scale it back down. Then I copied (Ctrl+Move) the half, flipped it, moved it into place and deleted the seam line. When you are drawing these sorts of details think about the tool you would use in the shop and how it will move. Or how the wood will move relative to the tool. I didn't do it in the example but if I were drawing that leg for a project of my own, I would probably redice the segment count for the roundover to no more than 6 segments. It won't look pretty up close but when viewed as part of an entire project, you won't be able to see the difference. It'll keep file size down and performance up.

Hi CJL, You can load a background image as a watermark in Window > Styles > In model (the little house icon) > Edit tab > Watermark settings. There you can play around with the settings (stretch the image for instance) etc. Make sure to have some colour for the ground otherwise the background watermark will see through your ground. Edit: Here is an example I have just made with the fist image (rather kitschy) I found on the net. Obviously there's a kind of "visual contradiction" (to say the least) between the "photo-realistic" sky and the sketchy ground plane and model itself. [image: VucI_Untitled.jpg]

What I would guess is that those facets aren't coplanar therefore SU also triangulates them. Try to delete one of the diagonal edges and if the face also disappears, this is the problem. Another way would be to use the text tool (make sure your import is ungrouped or you are editing it if grouped) to learn what the co-ordinates of the vertical edges are. Place the text tool on an endpoint of any of these edges then on the other endpoint. By default, the text tool will show the x,y,z co-ordinates the two first of which should be the same for those edges.

http://kauritatahi.blogspot.com/ Lawson Cypress used structurally as rafters, beams, and posts within the roof of a New Zealand "kiwi" made home. Inspirational !! In case you didnt know it has a very powerful smell to which some like and some cant handle it, if its not a well ventilated home, one may at first struggle with it, unless coated with a urethane or similar moisture cured paint or laqueer. @dave r said: Joe, how did the component axes get set so far away from the geometry? Makes you wonder, don't it? At a guess, that subcomponent was probably part of something else, which was then mostly deleted and then saved/imported into the new component. IIRC, the worst one I've seen was a lamppost from the warehouse that was a couple hundred feet from the origin. I figure somebody had a street scene, then deleted everything but the lamppost and did a save as.

Obviously I didn't mean that you're snobbish or anything and I can understand it was more like a "metaphor". Indeed however I started to play around first - instead of watching videos or even reading the manual - and only started to look for information when I'd already reached my limits in finding out things on my own. BUT I can say that SU had been fun (and quite easy to discover) even to that point otherwise I'd've probably dropped it. So Jasmine, if you learn a couple of basic ideas and rules (how NOT to screw your models), it will be fun and easy to learn SU and become proficient in what you want to achieve.

Have you read through the tuts? The curved corners are not difficult to achieve. Try these Tuts Curved edges on a cube http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=3631 General Tuts page http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=8767&p=52654&hilit=Curved+Edges#p52652 I hope you find the answer you are after. Mate - my impressions, could used some curving on the edges and correction of the camera angle on the texture and a texture for page edges. Richard
