Well, I'm not sure what model you downloaded from the Warehouse but my guess would be this (from your description) you had a model already georeferenced somewhere (say location A) you imported another model with a different geolocation (location B) SU aske you if you want to change your (original) location (A) to the new one (B) and you answered yes. Try with "NO" and see what happens. As for the GE Subforum; you are (this topic is) in it at the moment.

@alan fraser said: I know that SU now has its own 3D text tool, but that tool is fairly basic. Don't forget the solution of choice before the built-in option (or the Smustard Ruby) Elefont will automatically add a variety of bevels and chamfers that can be exported in dxf and brought into SU. http://www.armanisoft.ch/webdesign/elefont/Elefont.html Dear Alan, I have found time to test this "Elefont" from "Ingenieurbüro" Armin Müller you were talking about. [image: Elephantroselunette.jpg] [image: Elefont_001_550.jpg] This last 1.4 version dated from 7July 1998 begin to be may be a little outdated . It is not too much handy because its display is very small and the previsu doesn't give a great control. But in making small tries, we can do number of interesting variations. At the end the saving format in DXF is perfect to import in SketchUp. [image: Elefont_002_550.jpg] These subdivided letter shapes are perfect to use directly with S&S , avoiding the previous Offset, Scale and Skin stages I have tried to reach my goal: the molted letter. In taking the letter at this stage, making a real flare isn't possible (?) anymore. So if we satisfied with the approximative Scaled flare, it is OK. Hi Matthew and welcome! The Woodworking forum (and the "foreign language) forums are subscription based so that those who are not interested, don't have to deal with them. I've added you to the Woodworkers usergroup now so you should be able to see it and post there. Here is your User Control Panel where you can arrange stuff like this for yourself. http://forums.sketchucation.com/ucp.php?i=167 Look around there as there are a bunch of settings you can also make there.

Lavelle, the image doesn't say too much about the size of your model so if the problem is what I suggested above, it won't be any help. Say if the diameter of the whole shape is within a couple of centimetres (about an inch), the issue can be what I suspect. In this case, use the workaround above. If the shape is about a couple of metres (yards), there is something else. So to say; we aren't any closer to the problem and solution than before.

@dave r said: ThomThom, that's an interesting point. A couple of weeks ago or maybe it was last week, I have CRS, someone sent me a model in which something they were trying to do wouldn't work. I think it was plugin related. I copied the geometry to a new SKP session and it worked just fine. That didn't work for me. I tried it on several machines. If I kept right-clicking on selected geometry it's slowly start disabling menu items. Very odd.

Hi, mitcorb What amazes me most about SketchUp Community Forums is the effort of many talented members in providing us with tools for expanding the funcionality in SketchUp. This could save me a lot of frustration. Thanks!

Here is an example (made with RP Tree Maker suggested by Chris above). Load it directly into your SU application (if you browse the warehouse from SketchUp) otherwise if you download it as a file and import it like that, you have to explode the outer shell first. I hope it's not a too complicated description - if you have problems with it, I can rephrase.

Hi folks. SU cannot close a face when one side is less than 1 mm approx (1/16 inch). Of course, with a 4 mm diameter sphere you will end up with very small facets and these will not close. Simply pretend that your sphere is 400 mm in diameter and then, after you have drawn it, scale it down by a factor of 0.01. Just ideas.

When V-Ray 2 comes out with Proxy objects this will be very nice. Though, without proxy rendering this would be too much for a scene unless the scene is only a couple of them shrubberies. I really can't wait for VfSU2 so I can use models like that. It looks really good!

Thanks for confirming. From the model already intersected, I couldn't tell 100% sure (as I mentioned above).
