    • RE: Cannot open big file 340Mb

      hello to all,

as i had to work on this file, i've openned it on a 64bit pc and 'broke' it in small pieces - then i removed all building materials, join it all again, now its fine.
later when preparing final renders i'll export to collada to reduce texture sizes, but right now i prefer everything in white...
      regards,
      diogo

      the link is here:
      http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13163745/neuch_ville_sketchup_Arbre_sans_mobilier_urbain.zip

i guess the big size is due to excessive use of textures in the model, if there was a way to open partly a file (like in autocad)...

    • RE: Cannot open big file 340Mb

i work with skup for several years and my biggest file was way less 50mb...
i do think there must be something unusual with this file, but if it exists, someone saved it, so it should be openned...
i'm downloading it again, then i'll send a link to it if someone wants to try...
      regards

    • Cannot open big file 340Mb

      Hello!
I have a skp file of 340Mb (version 8), which sketchup cannot open - it says 'failed to open document' everytime...
my system is a quadcore, 4gb ram, >1gb NV GT220 graphic board.
the file displays the site for a competition, and i really need to open it... should i download it again (could be a problem related to the download) or a 340Mb file should be open on a faster/more Ram machine?
      regards,
      diogo

    • RE: Make a shape follow a curved line (like a necklace)

with shape bender it's possible to make this without minimal distortion (according to initial shape) only if you put the group of shapes along the reference line; if not, shapes will bend according to the radius of the curve...

    • RE: Make a shape follow a curved line (like a necklace)

modelhead, i use sk7 free so no style builder for me... though you're correct, one easy way is to make a custom line (like in cad program) and make a curve afterwards using it...
but what i'd like (because we could use it with 2d or 3d objects) is some trick that picks first and last points of the shape and use a line (straight, curved, tridimensional, whatever) where to place that points

    • RE: Make a shape follow a curved line (like a necklace)

thanks for your quick answer, pilou...
i had path copy installed already, but as you may see in the new image i cannot get the effect i'm looking - what am i doing wrong?
shape bender doesn't seem appropriate to this case because i had to have a straight and a curved with exactly the same size, which would get me into more problems...
      how could fredo scale help?example2.png
