Well Well, calstock! Thanks for specifying that here. It turns out i have always typed in "x10" to make multiple copies not knowing that "10x" will work the same way. AWESOME! BTW, decided to look for a utility to PRINT my shortcuts and found this old one. works well. plan to pay more attention and make more shortcuts. printkeys.rb https://sites.google.com/site/jimfoltz/my-sketchup-plugins/print-shortcuts

Well, that's it, I haven't (had the problem). I was primarily interested in the thread, because this was an apple issue that I was interested in seeing the outcome of what happened. However, like you guys, the assistive option checkbox was ticked on my computer.

Yeah I noticed the xml file for kerk was 131MB where as the 3ds was 59MB, the original SU file was 32MB. Its obvious different formats and exporters triangulate the model differently.

How about giving one set a distinctive texture in addition to colour?

@numbthumb said: What about SketchUp to Oblivion? I remember seeing some tutorials on that. You did mention nifskope, right? And there are also some tools to convert SU models into Left4Dead levels. That I did, Oblivion and FO3 use alot of the same features...worth a search...duh.... thanks for the tip!

OR move everything above the default ground plane (the x/y plane). But turning shadows on ground off is an easier solution of course.

    You need Jim's 'Unfold' tool - here - http://sketchuptips.blogspot.com/2007/08/plugin-unfoldrb.html

At this point, it is not possible. TBD did make a plugin that does this, but he still has not released the plugin or the code. The only way to do it by using another software like Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro on the Mac. You would essentially make the tv Monitor green, like a green screen, then add the video on top of the green in post processing in the other software. Some people have done it and its quite cool. Thanks, Chris: You are very kind to reply. As a matter of educating me, do you happen to know what factors would contribute to this condition, other than my ignorance? This appears analogous to Autocad block insertion points issues, but I don't know. (And it is rather involved process to correct this in Autocad, too.) I assume there is no easy script fix for this. Or is there? EDIT: After performing the operations suggested by Chris Fullmer, I gained a little better understanding of the problem. The component axes (not the workspace global axes) are normally connected with the bounding box of the component or group upon creation. If some modeling operation "corrupts" this relationship, the component axes may become divorced from the bounding box. It just so happens that while using SketchyFFD in SU6 I discovered that the deformation matrix was being formed at or near the divorced group axes, and because of this offset, some squirrelly results were happening after moving the matrix into position around the target group and applying the deformations. So, this may be a caveat for users of SketchyFFD, whatever version, to be sure that the axes are in the right location.

OK, got it working now... what an idiot!!! (me, most def not you) Instead of extracting the zip files, I saw and pulled only the toobars.rb file. No wonder your instructions appeared so confusing regarding moving the "folder." Makes no sense that something as fundamental as this isn't included with SU or why it doesn't follow the same customize toolbar procedure as in layout? Anyway, can't thank you enough for creating this and your help!!! BTW, is there a command for displaying components or the same as: Window > Component? Many thanks again...

Vray is just one renderer, and although it can produce very nice results its not particularly easy to get the hang of. If your just starting out with rendering id recommend having a look at twilight: http://www.twilightrender.com/ and podoum: http://www.suplugins.com/ And no, your model doesnt necessarily have to be very neat, although you will need to do certain things to make it look reasonable, for example making sure all the faces are pointing the right way and making sure the right bits of line work are smoothed.

Thanks for your reply. I have stumbled upon this video tutorial and it seems to be about modifying the sun radius and changing render presets in order to increase quality of soft shadows, so let“s see if I can wrap my head around it. http://www.kerkythea.net/joomla/index.php?option=com_openwiki&Itemid=75&id=soft_shadows
