su2kt.rb have a file that you must add the plugin for sketchup, and another that is the intala SU2KT3_0 where it has already done this, I suggest you save your export to the desktop of your cpu, may work .... I will be available, my e-mail contact is: redautocad@gmail.com Hope that helps. Hugs.

@jim said: The biggest limitation is that SketchUp does not have true arcs or circles. Everything is exported as line segments, and unless you used a lot of them, the segments could be visible on the finished part. Of course, this does depend on other factors such as the radius of the curve and precision of the machine. A small radius will probably not have visible segments, for example. The shop is going to take the .dxf and generate gcode to run on the cutting machine. The gcode ironically does support true arcs, but again Sketchup exports only line segments so that is what the machine will cut. The more segments you model with, the smoother the finished part. CNC machines and 3d printing have become affordable at a hobbyists budget. It's really too bad because Sketchup seems like a perfect fit otherwise, but this lack of curves makes it hard to recommend Sketchup for applications like cnc and 3d printing. Wrong! The plugin Phlatscript (sketchup to gcode) can transform the segments of an arc in instructions that specify a radius in the gcode.

the autosave file is always in the same file as the model. To find out where your autosave default is open a new SU document and just hit save, then look which directory it is saving too, your file is prob there.

Then the only thing you can do is to slice the image up into smaller pieces and apply them individually to separate faces and adjust them like a puzzle in SU.

Hi Jim - Thanks for the response. I should have dug around a bit more before posting this question. Laziness, I'm afraid. Up until now, I haven't needed to specify more than one position for copies generated using the COPIES function. I should have known, from the DC stairs I've seen, that you can specify PosX,PosY, and PosZ attributes for copies at the same time (and any other attribute, for that matter).

Several suggestions: Get the house model fixed before you do anything else. You should not have to draw the triangles to get the surfaces to form the way you have. Set the drawing axis to line up with the house edges to help you here; The roof surface measures 25367141.8 sq mm and the panels 1580x808 ( 1276.6 sq mm). That means if you have 100% packing efficiency you should be able to install 19 but the chimney prevents that so look at either optimization of the required number of panels based on you longitude where you are going to install and possibly reduce number required; Instead of installing all " vertically" the way you have try 90 deg rotation of some to see if you can get the 12 to fit ok Look at the combination of different panel sizes to get the wattage you need to fit your needs. If you check the panel supplier site I guess they would give you some options in this area. Good Luck BTW here is a small fix to your model http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=c0eb29754d7d46969f30f02514717f00

If you paint a component with a material, all the faces inside that component which has Default material will inherit the components material. A very handy feature. It means you can model a car, leave the body with Default material, and add all the rest - like tires, lights etc. Then when you place instances of that car component you can paint each instance with a different colour and the car body will reflect that. I'm guessing this is what you are referring to. Maybe a sample model, just to be sure we are talking about the same thing?

If you want to visually pick the materials you replace from the model, you can use this one: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=26013

OK - cheers TIG That works, but it seems to me it would be much cleaner if the incoming file would either just drop at the origin automatically, or you could type in 0,0,0 or even just 0 - don't see what the advantage is really of having it default to following the cursor around... rabbit

@gnue said: yes, you can. you need to change the decimal separating and number grouping indicators from OS's control table. for MAC - System Preferences>Language&Region, hit Advanced button, change Number Separators. But be careful this will be changed for whole system and in every other program you use. The use of some locale's alternative decimal-point as a ',' [versus '.'] and the 'separator' as ';' [versus ','] now work on many locales... Unfortunately SketchUp has been somewhat tardy in fixing some issues... For example, when typing absolute/relative coordinates into the VCB [requiring a ] or > etc] - then this can cause SketchUp to skip the input [aka 'fail']. This is a known issue... although there are PC based [temporary] fixes using PC's AutoHotKeys... obviously it should be fixable at the Trimble end !

Stupid macs Well if you have managed to put files in right place, i would check under tool palettes and see if listed. If not go to preferences and make sure checked. Then check what location you chose for tool to be at. [image: c2jc_SketchUpMac.jpg]
