I was unable to make a drawing face either, but I installed a toggle units plugin which gave me more accuracy with the coordinates so now they intercept. Thank You

Section-Planes inside groups only cut the groups' geometry - so group some parts. each with an active section-plane and then you'll get complex section-cuts. Alternatively make a copy of the SKP and actually cut a portion of it away - see Zooro2 and SectionCutFace for more details of this - there are several threads discussing this type of complex section-cuts...........

You get "not responding" when SketchUp is doing a task which take a while to complete. It doesn't mean it has crashed - it just haven't finished yet. Sandbox Tools can take a loooong time to complete.

I also have everything since v.6. I even have the installer of v.5 (free) but that version was such a crippleware that I did not want to reinstall on this new computer.

Hi Paul and welcome! Although I have no idea what those cold rolled steel sheds are, don't worry, there are many things I have no idea about and I am sure there are some people who know what they are here.

Looks like everything is loose(no groups or components). I just hid everything in the back, so I could select just the fan unit. I grouped the fan unit, so it can also be easily moved later; but you don't have to. PC case_temp1.skp

The creator of the DWG file should purge and audit the file and save the copy as an earlier version <=2010 - Also there are many things that might be in the DWG file that won't be imported into the SKP so these can be erased before purging etc - e.g. Text, Dimensions, Hatching etc... This will speed things up and avoid unneeded layers, blocks etc arriving with the import...

Moderator Boofredlay (Eric) also does occasional woodworking. However if you feel that your "newbie" questions (or some of them) are not very woodworking specific but indeed baby steps with the program, feel free to ask them here. Or choose the woodworking forum as you like.

As the boat lies on the water you will have a problem with the parts that are under water. Unless you can view the hull from inside too? Or if you have some accurate specifications? Waterline may not necessarily be where the water is .. Being a barge it may probably be rather flat-bottomed?
