You might find Tig's Extrusion tools more appropriate.

Are you still using SU2014 as your profile indicates? It might be that there's an extension that could model a roof such as you are after but it isn't difficult to do it with native tools. You can establish the slopes using the Protractor tool to place guidelines. Instead of typing the angle, type 12:12 and 5:12. I did that here. [image: i2ER_Screenshot-4_10_20217_40_11AM.png] [image: HIVT_Screenshot-4_10_20217_49_05AM.png] FWIW I just used an existing model of a shed that I built. Didn't bother to change the height of a wall as you'd typically have with a saltbox roof.

A lot depends on what you really need and what direction you want to head. Various plugins like Curviloft from Fredo6, Extrusion tools by Tig, Soapskin and bubble will all do what you need, but you may need to fiddle them a bit to get the results you want. My personal go to for something like that would be SUbD, but it is not free and has a bit of a steep learning curve. However once you understand it it can be indispensable, depending on your work of course. In this example you can see how just changing the edges in the corners changes the finished shape significantly. [image: NVCatR6.gif]

Go to View>Tool Palettes and select the Sections tool palette. Or Go to View>Customize and drag those tools up to the top toolbar area.

Yes, UV mapping. You can use free ones like Blender or Ultimate Unwrap (paid) since it can open and save skp files. But to texture that way you need to use something like Substance Painter or similar free ones like ArmorPaint, Blender can do it also but baking is not as good as Substance Painter or ArmorPaint. For any of them you will need to export your file to *.obj or *.fbx to texture them and after that, you will need to convert that model to skp to be able to use it in your scene.

Wow, thank you pbacot and Box... I've been using Sketchup for around 10 years, and professionally for 5+ and I never noticed this! Very often use angled axes inside Groups and Components, so this will be a game changer for me!

No. I'm suggesting you don't explode the components until you've replaced the geometry inside with a guide point. Since all the X-cross objects are instances of the same component, you only need to edit one of them if you don't explode them all first. After you make the edit, explode the instances to leave the guide point cloud you are after.

Your shape has no thickness. It's just a surface. Faces in SketchUp have no thickness. In order to be considered a solid it needs to have a volume. The Surface Border message is referring to the perimeter of the surface. [image: DGzU_Screenshot-3_26_20215_53_38AM.png] If you want to use Slicer or the Solid Tools, it first needs to have thickness. I used Vector Push/Pull here. Awesome! Thanks to both of you! The manual version is immediately helpful as a short term solution, but I really appreciate the discussion of the ruby. That might be incredibly helpful in the future. Take care
