Sketchup will export whatever is in the model, expecting a future update to somehow ignore random geometry is somewhat optimistic.

@horsinho said: Hi everyone, Not sure if this is the best place to ask (please move the thread if it isn't), but I'd like to know if there's a forum or website similar to Fivver focused in 3-D modeling. Or if there isn't a specific website, a place that has a section fully dedicated to 3-D modeling requests. I'm just a hobbyist, but once in a while I'm asked to design a room and I need to make some specific objects, for example a sofa, a massage chair, or something of that kind, and I wouldn't mind paying a few bucks to someone for that task. My hand dexterity is very low (health problems), and I can model a cabinet or something similar relatively easy, but organic modeling, with lots of curves, is much harder for me. I'm not a professional, so I wouldn't expect perfection, and I actually never used Fivver or anything similar so I'm not really sure how it works, but as I wrote above it'd be very nice if I could give this type of work on someone that probably would do this type of thing 10x faster than me. Thanks in advance for all comments and suggestions. actually, Fivver is a good place to start. I found A LOT of helpful guys there work on your inquiry thoroughly

Check the current style. It appears you have the ground color set to black.

@builder54 said: Possibly a rivet joining to 2 clamps together. Thanks for your input but my problem is really how to model a path that binds one tube to another at right angles when extruded as a tape or wire. Actually, I am thinking of trying plastic coated electrical wire as a durable and readily available material. It needs to have a waist to really tighten the binding; the salt-laden tropical winds can be really vicious.

That is one of the things people forget, models are just edges and faces, so you can select the end and scale it, or the whole end section and so on.

As Box guessed, they are Dynamic Components. Rotation is set in the Component Options panel. [image: GNB1_Screenshot-3_20_20214_04_09PM.png]

I'm not sure why you want to use silicone (I assume you mean a silicone-based caulk?). Are you worried about different expansion of the metal vs wood? Silicone will accommodate that, but will provide a somewhat rubbery bond that might be a bit unsettling to people going up the stairs unless there is a tight fit between the wood and metal. But if that is the case, there won't be room for different expansion anyway! I think I would also favor an epoxy.

I suspect you may be using more than the default 24 segments for your circles.

There is a known issue (feature?) when using Architectural units that the ~ indicating that the displayed measurement is rounded isn't shown when both feet and inches are present.

You can read the names of the extensions in the paths after SketchUp/Plugins. This is why you were advised to install the extensions fresh from their sources. If you'd done that there'd be no chasing these loading errors.

Hi Aleja! I'm afraid you can only set ONE axis origin for each component. BUT with DCs you can move the geometry inside the component and make it rotate the way you want.

Thanks, I replaced the component completely and the issue is no longer apparent. Seems the component was in some way compromised.

@jman0war said: Thanks. I used to use BlueBeam Revu years ago, mostly for the one click PDF conversion and a few Markup tools. Looks like they've added functionality. I only have the viewer but it's great to get dims off of PDFs. It'd be nice to be able to bring vector PDFs into SU (like I can in AutoCAD) but maybe one day. Good luck Glenn
