... again an other simple playing with geometry, done with a set of equal cube-components (21 x 21) and it´s transformation options. Here again using Alexander Schreyer's "Scale By Tools" plugin for their automated pyramid-like distribution. After that I essentially used Julia Eneroth's so cool plugins "Random Select" to form random groups, which I made unique each time and "Erode" to achieve any "rocklike" appearance. To let the whole thing "wobble" a little bit, additionally Chris Fullmer's "Random Rotate" was used. [+ SketchUp 2017 Make / Enscape] [image: YDJ5_RenderHXEnscs2Collage1600.jpg]

Translated by Google: @unknownuser said: I created a door in dynamic component. I manage to set the dimensions but on the other hand I cannot "block" the miter cuts of the lintel, in fact each time I change the dimensions, the cuts no longer join. I attach to this post the file in question. Does someone want to do the manipulation and repost the file because I dry completely? Changing the dimension of a component with Dynamic Components is a scaling operation. If you scale a mitered component, the angle and length of the miter will change proportionately with the change in overall length. [image: JuPH_Screenshot-5_17_20217_14_42AM.png] To prevent the miter angles from changing, divide the component into three separate components. One for each of the miters and one for the center section. Then you can move one of the miter components and scale only the center section. [image: XOOU_Screenshot-5_17_20217_18_09AM.png]

Those CAD entities that are ignored by the importer are not edges. As Kenny indicates, exploding the text converts it to edges which can be displayed in the SketchUp model. TIG has a .dxf importer that can deal with text but you'd need a dxf file instead of dwg.

What graphics card in the new computer? There were numerous reports of problems with recent AMD GPUs. If it is an AMD card, go to the AMD site and get their latest drivers and install them.

Naturally I agree with everything slbaumgartner says about assigning tags to edges and faces. I had disabled the recursive part of the plugin as I did not need that. I've been using this successfully over the years. Following recent helpful discussions with slbaumgartner and anotheron the other forum regarding ruby coding, for my personal use, I have reworked the code and wrapped it in modules.

I agree with what they said, and will add that the higher resolution photo the better...(hard to place the alignment points when image is too pixelated). But, I think it's good enough to roughly model from then adjust later according to your known dimensions. See if this file works better for you. I aligned to the corner of the desk in the foreground. Not much vanishing point on the red axis, but like I said, should be good enough to help guide in roughing things out. moje_ambulance - Edited GD3.skp

I could see an advantage to this for typical details, or details that can be modified for the current projects. Engineers that I work with seem to have a numbering system, almost every detail in the drawing has a number below the title. I think it would be useful if the number included the year it was created or modified, or an abbreviation for the job it was used in, for custom designs. I don't consider it useful in my work, the way that details and drawings are usually one-off. I can find work by saving in the computer under the project name.

thank you - this good news is encouraging. I too am dependent on an IT department with my company´s notebook. Due to also Corona-related many much much more important issues these people have to master, my concern was not important enough so far. Since the update to SU 2022 is coming up soon, I will keep an eye on this topic. Anyway, I share tig's comment from above @tig said: BUT surely this can be fixed 'properly' by 'the powers that be' at Trimble ??

SU MAKE - 17.2 - The newer versions of Sketchup are a little pricey for us non-professionals who don't make a living from it. On the other hand, I have to pay for Photoshop and Illustrator as I do use those to earn.

PS The centerLine part is not usually needed, once you erase the internal lines And the face is in a V shape, you can usually just move that up/down to make your rectangle.

I didn't even notice that bent corner, it was so small! I fixed that but I'm still unable to make anything work. I've tried everything and at this point I'm going to have to give up unless someone else is able to figure out how to impose a grid with the cone shape I have. I'm just going to assume that my target surface geometry is too complex for flowify.
