@jql said: You shouldn't use a dynamic component to do that, you should use fredo scale box stretching to target instead. Much more practical and less computer intensive ... This is exactly what I wanted to do. Thanks a lot!

@jim78b said: I HAVE A model ...I can not make it ok for exportation in stl format... We might need more details to come up with some really useful advice... I suspect your model is not 'solid'... Most 3dPrinters [i.e. taking STL] expect 'manifold solids'... There are lots of posts about this... Please give more [helpful] details... Can you attach the SKP to a post ?

I'm sure you guys know but, for renaming you have a plugin from renderiza that's called "Rename by Layer". It's very good! Pick all the groups/components, select a name or definition name, set a name and rename them all sequentially. For components you can use the definition name "Component#N". Or you can select Components, Groups or Components and Groups and change all "Name" while numbering or not, prefixed or sufixed... Cool thing is that "Rename by Layer" can also rename by layer... (never used it that way)

Hi, sorry for delayed response as I was away on a field trip with students. Yes, but could not find anything.

It makes sense to import vector lines if you need to be able to edit them or want to use them to flesh something out to 3D. If layers are a problem for you, clean them up or get rid of them before making the DWG file.

See Importing an Adobe Illustrator File SketchUp can import Adobe Illustrator files in the for of AutoCAD Drawing (.dwg) or AutoCAD Interchange (.dxf) file formats. To Import an Adobe Illustrator file: Export the Adobe Illustrator file as either a .dwg or .dxf file from Adobe Illustrator. Run SketchUp. Select File > Import. The Open dialog box appears. Navigate to the .dwg or .dxf file. Click the Open (Microsoft Windows) or Import (Mac OS X) button. The file is imported. A Google search will turn up a lot of information.

Are you printing to scale rather than a perspective view? It sounds like you have checked 'use high accuracy HLR' at the bottom right of the print dialogue. This will produce a vector drawing but at the expense of shadows and textures. Uncheck it to print shadows.

You don't need to hide anything to use the animation function with section cuts... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nKyWomUYxs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sQ-7dt95yw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khsFvyXLe-Q

01- You need some Ruby to delete all SectionPlanes: This line of code + enter in the Ruby Console will do that: m=Sketchup.active_model;m.start_operation('!');m.active_entities.grep(Sketchup::SectionPlane).each{|e|e.erase!};m.commit_operation It's somewhat long as in includes code to make it one step undo-able. It erases all SectionPlanes in the current context - so ones nested inside a group are not affected until you run the code inside an edit of that group... 02- As well as hiding other contexts completely during an edit session... SectionPlanes can be assigned Layers. That way you can assign different Layers to different SectionPlanes and switch them to be not visible in different Scene-tabs as desired: thus removing the visual 'clutter'. Get used to using Layers, Modes, Styles and Scene-tabs in combination - you can have various tabs set up to enhance your modeling experience - e.g. you don't need textures and shadows on when making most 3d forms, and they will slow down orbiting etc, a tab to troubleshoot - with a Style set to show hidden geometry, color edges by axis etc is also a useful thing...
