I'm using a 2010 MBP, I'm not having any issues apart from the zoom on the trackpad really slowing down at times, a click on the Zoom Extents button clears it though.

I don't know if there was a joke related to that or not. I suppose it could be confusing to some that components have definition names and instance names.

That's a stumper because I don't think it will be easy to do in sections and put together aftewards. Instant Terrain by Valiarchitect might give a finer grid but I don't know if it can show more accurate detail. I couldn't say without seeing the file, but you do realize that contours are only approximations themselves. They don't represent reality and your model doesn't either. For example, parts that (I suspect) are absolutely flat in your model are not coming out perfectly flat in the results, but is it still reasonably close and usable for your modeling? I've suggested to Fredo that the grid be set by dimension and always orientated to the x-y axis. Then one could do smaller portions and join them more easily, with the grid lining up. I have no idea if that is a reasonable request.

Sorry for giving you news you didn't want but I'm happy if it saves you time. I'm not sure if it will have an impact but you might experiment with Transparency Quality settings in the Face seetings under Styles>Edit.

I'm kind of interested in knowing what your aversion is to making a group or a component.

Draw an arc? [image: hj1V_Screenshot-1_8_20154_20_29AM.png] I don't know if you want them but you can get smoother curves all the way around if you increase the number of sides on the circle and the circle you used to create the half-ellipse. [image: clBB_Screenshot-1_8_20154_27_36AM.png]

Okay actually the lines are many many segments......they are one polyline in CAD so not sure why they came in that way. I discovered if I use simplfy contours but instead of the default 10, i use 1, its almost perfect but not still problems in some sreas with the tin not touching the contours. the computer freezes if I try to use sandbox without simplfy first

Geometry drawn in the same context immediately 'merges', so the circles will cut each other. This is useful to do what Pilou shows, but a PIA when you want to Move one circle as drawn over the other. e.g. if you have not initially drawn it in the exact position you desire. To allow that, draw the second circle away from everything else, then select it and use the context-menu to make it into a [temporary] group. Now you can select the temporary group and Move it etc, sliding it over the other circle to adjust the overlapping. When you are ready explode the temporary group. The circles will merge and cut each other as before... Erase the unwanted parts...

Hi pisosse, hi folks. If you use the Help menu from SketchUp, then choose the Knowledge Center and then type printing to scalein the search field and then click on the first hyper link, you shall eventually find this: http://help.sketchup.com/en/article/36227 The 1:50 scale can be set in the dialog window. When printing, select a pdf printer to produce a pdf file. Just ideas.

Yes, the Save_As in the CAD app could go back, even to r2000, the DWG's geometry/layers etc imported into SketchUp will be unaffected by that... but newer things like DC's, which could break it, are not supported in those earlier DWG formats, so they are avoided...
