Well, I'm not a Mac user myself so can't really give any advice. I know that OS 10.3 is not supported but I don't know if any next version will support it. As the things seem to be now, I guess the next version will be SU7 already - and that will take a while to fully beta test and bug fix before a public release.

Hi landman and welcome. Yes, what Alan says. Also components (especially with many instance) have a lot of further advantages you'll discover (keeping file size down for instance).

@alan fraser said: It is also possible to force movement along a particular axis by holding down the appropriate arrow key while moving. I was just thinking about searching for this little trick the other day, I remembered reading it somewhere, but couldn't remember how to do it! Thanks! Your tutorials are always so clear and helpful..really nice work!

Nevermind. After I reset the mouse wheel from DOUBLE-CLICK, to WHEEL-CLICK, the SHIFT button will now interrupt a line draw. But I'll have to remember to change the mouse setting whenever I use SketchUp. However, I find that I still end up with two lines instead of one. Is there a way to combine them into one line, other than grouping. Thanks again for the help.

Yeah, you can download it there and install even upon your existing free version and get it to work (free) for eight working hours after which it will decently downgrade into the free version unless you pay purchase a license. Basically only the 3d and 2d vector format export is an added funtion in the pro version currently - plus there is a presentational software called "LayOut" and lately "StyleBuilder" that are added to the pro version. So only download and install it when you feel the need to try these functions out. If you are still at a stage of exploring the modeling functions of SU keep it for later...

Thats so cool Tom. I have many self made trees that I have in 'clip-map' form, I never use .png as they are currently not recognized in Podium, however with the new V2 coming out soon that will support it I have started converting some so as to be ready for beta testing. I have some great trees that are like a zillion MB that I have posed in another app and rendered them from many different angles so that I can extract the alpha map perfectly and create crisp .png's from them. The advantage to doing this is I can take a tree like for an example a Magnolia and render 4 different rotated views of the same tree and make 4 different .png's from that tree, one can then use 4 different 'billboards' in mass creating a forest or mass of the same species without getting a pattern and it all seems so natural. Like the pink blooming tree above, I have 3 other views of it that can be placed next to each other without looking duplicated.

Hi Mike There are numerous styles (like the ones I distribute via FormFonts) that have a pencil look. They are typically monochromatic. If you are handy with Photoshop (or other editors) you could probably merge a pencil-styled export with a colour version of the same drawing to achieve a coloured pencil look. If you are interested in a monochromatic look - in a single colour other than a graphite one - then again you could manipulate (photoshop etc) a graphite-styled render to look like it was drawn using one coloured pencil. I attach another way. An image was exported from SketchUp. It was then processed with the PhotoShop-compatible filter from LittleInkPot called 'Sketcher'. The result (monochromatic) was then merged with a copy of the original export to produce a pencil crayon effect. The 'Sketcher' plugin is worth the money in my opinion. Sorry but it is for Windows only. http://www.littleinkpot.co.uk/ Regards, Ross [image: w7Ny_pencil-crayon-example.jpg]

1/200=0.005 so you just do your scale as normal, but with a "divide" instead of a ratio

Can they add this feature to Sketchup 7 as a wishlist? @thomthom said: @mpowell1234567890 said: @thomthom said: Interesting. I've found that you don't even have to rename it. Since GIF and PNG file formats got different structures I got an idea; When you have the file dialogue window open, type in * in the filename textbox and hit the Enter key. Then all files will be listed and you can select and open your gif files. So it appears that GIF support already exists, it's just the file dialogue that lacks the listing for the file format. How do I do it? I tried but see no animation.. Am I doing it right? * filename.gif It only support static GIF images. No Animation. So it's actually a partial support of the GIF format.

Hi Pkast, Thanx for the input. I’m still at it, but nothing has ‘struck my fancy’ yet. The current batch of end results tend to be washed out. Or if colorful enough, they are “dry” looking. I tried a few via Akvis Sketch (trial) software. But they also lacked the desired ‘soft wet-ish’ color blend look that appears in Ross’s image. Still experimenting… Thanx, Bob
