Hi Mirza, this is a problem with multiple trips from SketchUp to Google Earth, where Google Earth continues to reference a previous texture in cache (temporary memory). You can fix this easily by going to Google Earth and selecting the Tools menu > Options... and then clicking on the Cache tab in the Google Earth Options dialog. Once you are in the Cache tab, click the "Clear memory cache" and "Clear disk cache" buttons and then click the "OK" button. Now re-Place Model and you will see the textures lined up correctly! I hope this isn't too inconvenient for you, we are working on a fix. Cheers, - CraigD

There's also this 'surveytool' plugin by architect John Wehby, that takes distances and bearings... http://rhin.crai.archi.fr/rld/author_details.php?id=50 There are also some other useful tools by him there... Writing a script to import distances and angles is quite straightforward... can you post a text file of some example data... It could place cpoints that you then swap for components later [such tools already exist]

hi, i wonder, if we finally get some stable and reliable tool to import vector files, like cdr, ai or eps to SU ? coreldraw helps me to get complicated 2D design into SU, via dxf file. when drawing contains minimum points, it“s become distorted. if contains plenty of points, it“s become very complicated for further editing. (weld plugin too) is there any plugin to get into into SU in perfect shape with minimum points to share our time and patience please? maybe it“s time to tell the SU creaters to add import for vector formats into higher version of SU. cheers ! In this thread you'll find a list of renderers. Some are standalone (and can render scenes from different apps) like Kerkythea for instance (and it's also free) some have a built in GUI in SU - like Podium or iRender afaik.

Good idea. Or maybe make it a toolbar like the layers etc... then you can place it where you want.

I've heard of corrupt downloads so try to download the latest version again to see whether you had a good file. (Moved to Bug Reports)

@miikka1978 said: Has anybody tried to make animations with SU Animate. It seems interesting. http://www.ohyeahcad.com/suanimate/index.php yes I have, there is a model of mine that used the SU Animate feature to show red arrows going through a smoke detection system. It's just a fancy add-on that creates "animations" faster than doing it manually. Here is the work I did with the SU Animate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXg9VWmQcG8 It uses some of the very basic animation techniques shown on this very forum. Using the same principles I created this very short animation of a fire truck pulling out of a station... the SU Animation program is nice, but you should really save yourself the money and just do it manually. @gaieus said: Hi Ken and welcome back. Actually your account hasn't been disabled or inactivated - we have just moved to a new board for basically technical reasons. Yes I saw your name among the newly registered members and have already re-attributed your old posts to you (as you can see you have some 55 posts now). ah, thanks! i thought there was some reason why i came up "unregistered", i appreicate you updating my posts as well @unknownuser said: Welcome back Ken. Are you haunting the CADTutor again as well? I have not been there in quite some time. Again glad you are back haha, yeah i typically float around there and try to help out and answer people's questions, but lately my interests have been elsewhere. I enjoy this forum and people here really turnout some truly amazing renders and such, so I'm glad to be able to share my work and be inspired by others here.

I prefer to think of Hiding components as a temporary thing. Layers were specifically implemented for controlling visibility and it is much easier to use them for that than hiding components with the hide tool. I'm sure you saw my examples of working with components hidden instead of having the layers turned off. I would find it a PIA if I was only hiding components instead of using layers. Besides, with hiding, you have no way to organize the model as you do with layers.

Pete I really like the style. The bald guy looks a bit like me. Did you use the charcoal sketch filter on Obama in Photoshop?. I might try doing this. Thanks

I suggest drawing the road outline, push/pulling it, placing it in the desired position on the terrain, and intersecting. delete the faces and you have a road.
