    • RE: Group Axis in SU8 Problem

Thanks guys! The reset axis will work for me. I normally draw with the axis hidden and use the arrow keys to lock in the axis I want to move on. So when I rotated a group and tried to lock an axis to move on things on, well things did not work for me as expected. It took me a while to figure out what was going on.

I think in time I will like this new feature after a few adjustments to my drawing habits.

    • Group Axis in SU8 Problem

I just noticed how SU8 handles moving objects within a group differently than SU7 did. So far it is causing me lots of problems. Example: I make several individual objects and then group them. This group of objects is then rotated say 30°. Next I edit this group and want to move one of the individual objects in relation to an object outside of the group in relation to the world axis. Now here is my problem - in SU8 when you edit a group the group axis rules over the world axis. If I want to inference an object outside of the group using the world axis I can not do that since I rotated the group and its axis rules in edit mode. Is there a way to turn this new feature off or an easy work around? Right now I am drawing a bunch of construction lines, moving objects in the group, then erasing the construction lines - a lot more work.

    • Undock LayOut tool pallets?

Is it possible to un-dock the tool pallets in LayOut? I have a dual monitor setup and would like to take advantage of the extra real estate by spreading out the tool pallets.

It is a WACOM stylus holder. I have one with my Bamboo. Nice render - it looks just like it!

If you have Adobe Illustrator this may help:

      1. Open your EPS file in Illustrator and select all.
      2. Go to Object>Path>Add Anchor Points. (by default when you click this it adds an anchor point in the middle of every other anchor point you have) The smoother you want your curves the more Anchor Points you will want to add.
      3. Then go to Object>Path>Simplify and check the "Straight Lines" box. Bring your "Angle Threshold" down to 0. You can check the preview box and see how it looks.
      4. Export as a .dxf/dwg file and insert into SU.
      5. Redraw one line so SU will recognize the shape and fill.

This is not an original solution by me.
It was posted on the old @Last forums but I can't remember by whom.

    • (Help) EPS to SketchUp

Is there a way to convert an EPS file, import it into SketchUp and get smooth arcs? I have an EPS file of a client's logo that I am working with. I have tried using Illustrator to export a DWG and then import that into SketchUp. The result is very noticeable facets in all of the arcs. In the past I have manually redrawn the arcs in SketchUp with a higher arc segment number. With this file though, I will have a lot of cleaning up to do. Any tips an how to do this without having to redraw it in SketchUp?
