Mike has just posted one here: http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=7275 You may be able to scale it to your needs (horizontal scaling would "stretch" it drawn/open I guess but you could also multiply it to be "longer").

@trocket said: Lewis, Sorry you feel I stole the idea from you. In truth I didn't, and I'm sure there are many people who realized you could use the blur filter with fog to simulate the effect when Adobe released the blur filter, I think in CS2. That's when the idea came to me anyway. You should get full credit though for sharing the idea here first though, so many props to you. It's a fun effect, hopefully we'll be putting out more videos on creating effects in PS. Cheers! Tyson Google SketchUp Oh, don't worry about it, Tyson...I have no right to be peeved, and I think I must have just been having a wretched day when I wrote that post. I'm sorry for the tone. I sure didn't patent the idea or have any desire to...and I did find, just recently, an obsolete tutorial on another forum where the old Ruby fog script for SU5 was combined with some other scripts to generate a "depth mask" output automatically, which was about the same "SketchUp" era when the idea occurred to me (I'd post some images, but the project belongs to the firm where I was working at the time and I have no right to display the renderings). Anyone familiar with post-processing output from the dinosaur modelers like 3DS Max or Form-Z probably saw the possibility. I was doing this with Max output, z-depth alphas, and the Photoshop Gausian blur filter (and masked adjustment layers to create desaturation) in PS 6...just as I had been taught when I worked for one of the big render houses! All I needed was a gradient to depth to recreate it with SketchUp. Incidentally, the makers of Rhino (who are really insecure about SketchUp, it seems) recently updated their faux-SketchUp "Penguin" rendering package to automatically include a depth mask output! I think a lot of people have independently noticed or realized the value of depth mask creation in the context of NPR renderings.

The props are not mine. The stove, sink, teapot, microwave and books all came from SketchUp components. I did all the rest.

@unknownuser said: ...Isn't the image inline option supposed the place the full image, not thumbnail? How does it work?[attachment=0:2skd4yye]<!-- ia0 -->Scap.jpg<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:2skd4yye] No, it only lets you place the attachment thumbnail between paragraphs so when you write longer etxts, the attachment can be within the text. Those who post in a way that the whole image is viewable host it somewhere else and use the [embed] tags to display it here.

If the EULA says you cant redistribute it, i wouldnt get your hopes up for publishing it yourself. Definetly worth gettign in comtct with the SU team to see wether theyd be interested or not, as this could add some major functionality to the program. I suppose the only caveat would be if you wanted to charge or not, which would be pretty reasonable as far as im concerned! So i reckon, just talk to the SU team and see what they have to sya aobut it, im certainly gunning for you

I noticed after performing the intersection command on group 2, and deleting the section plane and half the pipe, the green element at the intersection with the vertical pipe appeared to have hidden edges. In fact, when I clicked on a surface of that object, it selected the entire green object, as if it were an object or component. I think that is why the intersecting face is not being created. When I recreate the two pipes and intersect them, I don't have that problem.

@gata said: A windows update may have done something to your video driver. Reinstall your video driver/look for an update while you're at it. You know, that might be it. I recently updated the drivers manually while checking to see if anything new was out. I updated on or about 1.25.08, which could be the culprit. Maybe I can roll it back and see if anything happens...

I'd like to add that it's very annoying that the manual resizes the browser windows when it opens. I always have my browser open and the SU help opens up in the existing window and moves it about.

@greg said: Thanks Jim and tomsdesk. Unchecking 'Display Edges' does not do it because I'm using lines to simulate empty bins in a virtual warehouse, but setting the line profile from 3 to 1 does the trick. I'm trying to derive the Ruby commands to do this programmatically. Greg Hi Greg, Please look again at the suggestions. Neither Tom nor I said to turn off Display edges. We said to turn off Profiles, and gave 2 ways to do it. As for the Ruby commands... Sketchup.active_model.rendering_options["DrawSilhouettes"]=false

Instead of extruding the pipes from each other, id probably do it by making standard frame sections and moving/rotating them into place. If you do want to try it by extruding the sections, i reckon you need the follow me tool, draw in a series of lines to represent the frame, the draw in a circle perpendicular to the end of each line, then use the folow me tool to get you tube.

Explode them first, or convert them using the Express Tools to non-dynamic blocks before importing the file into SU. There's no way around that. To my knowledge, no other CAD or modeling program outside of AutoDesk's own products imports AutoCAD's dynamic blocks.

Ok tried something new. If I draw a larger object say 10 feet x 10 feet and then print it at a smaller scale it does print correctly and the right size. It's just small objects that it seems to have problems with. Edit: Oh B%*%%$er now even that's stoped working. Last week I designed a stable block thats a 16 x 16 foot and 12 foot high. Printed out fine to scale on one sheet of A4. Can't get it to do that now. Will try reinstalling sketchup incase something has gone wrong.
