      Hi,

I'm having a bit of trouble with a lutyens bench and arbour I'm making. The problem is the trellis, I need to continue the trellis around the curved sides. Any ideas how I could do this? I've attached the file...

        Hi Andy,

I'm not sure what exactly you want since I don't know these special terms. On the bench I couln't find anything to "finish" but on that shader thing I did some "improvements" I guessed you wanted to get finished.

Now those parts do not have thickness (yet) - is this you meant or I misunderstood everything completely (which would be quite understandable since I haven't had my drinks yet today 😄 ).

          Thanks for the reply....

Thats not quite what I'm after. The same trellis (mesh bit) that is at the back needs to continue around the sides following that curve so it should have that mesh around 3 sides (2 are curved)....I think its more difficult than I first thought.

How does this look? I did this with the magic Vertex push pull - stretched your existing panels out to look like planks, stretched the top curve you have in place down the z axis and intersected them. Plus a lot of cleaning up.

PS It doesn't stand up to close scrutiny as the left & right slats should have slightly different curves.

PPS I left the wip components there off to the left of the bench - I think that's why the file is quite so big.

Simple solution, but may not be what you want.

Thanks fellas, appreciate the speedy replies.

Went for bob's method, though I need to practice it. Not sure i'm fully understanding the way you did it!

                  Here's a better step-by step tutorial.

                    Thats fantastic. Thanks!

One thing I don't understand....Vector push/pull? I've never used that before. Done a search for it but can't seem to find anything that I can follow!

Hi - the correct name is 'Joint Push Pull' and the download link is here (though I actually used the dialogue driven version for some reason). A fantastic tool for manipulating shapes in ways that just aren't possible, or are very tedious, using the standard tools.
