Also you can find the "culprit" endpoint by using the text label tool on the corners. Whichever doesn't say 0 for the blue axis (for example - in case of a horizontal rectangle) will be the one that prevents you from creating a face. You may need to adjust precision to some higher value in the Model info box. To fix this, make sure nothing is selected, hover over the wrong point with the move tool, click on it when the inference appears, hit the up/down arrow on your keyboard and move it to 0 z value (by inferencing with any of the correct corner points). Also note that SU has some kind of "tolerance" so you may even create a face with non coplanar edges (see example file - the face is created though the corner point farmost from the origin is 0.01 cm higher than the others - start push-pulling it up and see that the vertical edges lose their z-axis marking blue colour at about 3300 cm high). So you never know... Non-planar.skp

Hello. Does anybody have an idea on how to model such a "net" bridge ? My last tentatives are not really convincing. How it should be ... [image: ScbB_net-bridge.jpg] I am looking for green bulding models (contrast in between industrial and natural architecture, plantwall, greenroof, organic design) I could get inspired by and this legally. It is just for "presentation" of the overall park and not to "sell" the model. Anyway we can manage and agreement if the model is on purpose and could be more than an example. Thanks.

@actionpink said: I have been trying to create a 2D person in sketchup using a tutorial that I found in the warehouse. To create the person, I have created a material using a photograph, painted a surface with the material, and then outlined the image of the person. After deleting the surrounding surface, I am left with a great looking image of a person in 2d, however, I can not move the object around because the material does not stay in line with the outline of the person. I have tried "creating a component" and selecting "always face camera" but this seems to automatically mess the whole thing up anyways. Is there a way to lock a material to a surface? Is there another way I can create a 2D person in sketchup without using photoshop or another image editing program? Thanks! %(#008000)[When importing an image in SU to: 'Use as image', then explode or 'Use as texture' the texture is fixed to the face it is on.] However when painting anything straigth from the material browser then the texture is fixed to the unrotated/untranslated origin. (the original one) Most likely you painted using an already imported picture. %(#4000FF)[Also: Sampling from fixed texture to apply to another face results in also fixed to the new face. Sampling unfixed texture results in unfixed texture on the new face.] %(#008000)[Just right click on the texture > select 'Texture > Position' from the context menu > immadiately rigth click on the texture (tiles) again and select 'Done' Now the texture is fixed to that particular face.] (Note: this does not apply to painted groups or components as a whole) Wo3Dan

Thanks to all of guys! I have to say, Gidon's way is the quickest and cleanest. I remember trying it some time ago but gave up. But this time I got it. Any one else interested in this then watch this video to compliment the understanding. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09Vd2jj3BGE Thanks again Pankaj

Visually the building itself is very interesting but like you said the site needs some work. There are a few things you could try while rendering directly from SU but to really get an image to "come to life" Photoshop or some other editing program should be used. A few suggestions: 1.Adjust the shadows darkness a little more to help the relationship between the building and the site read a little clearer. Currently the shadows get lost. 2.Another thing could be to render without lines but this only works really well if there is enough detail in the model. This often helps in making the model feel more realistic. 3.Add shrubs and varying species of ground cover. I'm sure some will exist on the site somewhere. Along with the other mentioned comments you should be well on your way. Goodluck.

Hi Pankaj, hi folks. Same answer Gully Foyle gave in the other forum: use 3D text. Dont give it any depth unless you want to. I suggest grouping it to avoid any interaction with other geometries. Just ideas.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. That explanation makes perfect sense and coincides with my experience. I ended up taking a screenshot of the images. Now that I know it seems to be the 'only' way to accomplish this I feel a bit better.
