You could try making a copy of your skp and exploding everything that wont render. I believe previous versions had some problem with nested groups/componets.

Are you on 2015 64 bit SU? This should not be an issue any more if you are.

@tedvitale_cg said: Try this for just a Sketchup model. In V-Ray you can make a truly realistic version using a Refraction material layer. Just as a side note, the model I've shared wont render properly in V-Ray. Its only an example of how to illustrate aerogel in Sketchup. Nice solution! At first I thought you were just using a textured cube.

@toddakeson said: Any tips in general to render off white painted cabinetry/ millwork without getting the harsh splotches? Hi Todd, I thought it might be VRay, damn. I can't really make any recommendations based on that. I used Maxwell (unbiased), so I don't have a very strong grasp on VRay (or other biased engines for that matter) or it's settings. From what I've heard, GI settings can sometimes causes light bleeds and so forth, though I couldn't tell you what to adjust to clear them up! Sorry!

Sorry, but the V-Ray 2.0 Beta is no longer a valid License of V-Ray. For more help, please upgrade to the full licensed version V-Ray 2.0.

the problems can be caused by texture of the models you imported. maybe the naming is bad and make sure don't import very heavy models. vray sketchup and sketchup just can't handle them very well.

@andybot said: you'd need caustics and dispersion enabled. (Dispersion is where you'd set the abbe number.) You'll want to use spot lights (NOT area lights) for more effective caustics. (Area lights are too diffuse.) btw, diamond studded handles, really!? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamonds_on_the_Soles_of_Her_Shoes i only turned on dispersion. guess i need to turn on the caustics in the option menu to make it work. thanks for the reply. will post results if i succeed it.

@valerostudio said: Plain and simple - Warehouse is full of crap. I would open each Warehouse file independently, clean as suggested above, try to render it VR by itself and ensure there are no errors. Also make sure you are the latest 2.0 release as there have been issues in the past with materials missing and then renders go blank. Thank you valerostudio @jql said: Well for your level Kerkythea is definetely worth the try! You'll improve the level of your rendering and won't notice a difference as Kerkythea has everything you'll need in a medium term. Other software packages, however have so many more features that they can't compare. Most of them like Vray, are competing at another level. I use Thea myself and it's great! But there are so many excellent choices... Explore Kerkythea, and when you feel the need for more explore every option available... yeah , that's what I need , thank you for your help . I started the project , maybe make some test render in couple of days

Are you working over a network with DR? Are you running the latest build 2.00.24261(SP1)on all machines? Make sure all machines are running the same version of V-Ray when working over a network. If youre still having trouble you should contact Chaos Group Support at support@chaosgroup.com

Mates, Thanks in advance for all your kind supports. Due to the fact that my book is dedicated to V. 2x, I decided to reduce the proposed price to $6 and think for those who may find it handy, it is the right time to buy it. The basics concepts on material and lighting in the most recent version are the same as previous( I mean the main concepts such as Reflection, refraction, bump, displacement, light values, light types, etc) and even in some realms, the changes are very subtle. But the interface has drastically changed so if one is going to use the recent versions, my book is outdated and obsolete. I hope to have some spare time to update it to the most recent version if my computer bears it (while seems due to rapid updates, it is not so wise). Just saw that a most recent and comprehensive book for more advanced users is announced on the sub-forum by another user.

The next thing that can greatly slow down a renderings LC is the use of transparent diffuse textures. Always turn them into a VRayBRDF glass material and delete your diffuse layer. If they the material is supposed to represent a soft transparent material use a V-Ray two sided material to simulate a soft transparent (cloth, drapes, lamp shades etc..) Your rendering speeds will be greatly increased.
