make sure you are not trying to load very old vismat files. There are earlier formats that don't work in the current version.

There are a number of ways to do this, no right or wrong way though. It all depends on what you are trying to achieve. Could you share the material you are trying to create, or an image of something similar to what you are trying to create?

I guess, because the glass panels are situatied behind each other, the computer keeps reflecting the scene indefinitely.
Is there a way to tell vray to reflect all the objects in the scene 1 time instead indefinitely.

Forgot to say - you can set how many times the glass reflects/ refracts with the "refraction max depth" setting. In global settings, you also can set "Max transp levels" and a refraction override.

What's up with Thea users in the V-Ray forums trying to make converts of us?

There's absolutely no reason VR can't make a render using RT (in 2 min with a $1,000 graphics card) of a 30MB file with proxies.

Make sure you have the latest SP2.
Check your back faces - its good modeling practice
I would group some elements in your model - There's a lot of loose geometry, again its good modeling practice to use groups and layers.
    Make all landscape into proxies
Render to EXR or VRIMG using Preview
    Use the 64 bit workflow
If you have other machines on your network, setup DR

Andy- To avoid that issue, turn off your scene transitions, and set the scene duration to 0. You shouldn't have a problem after that.

    Hi,
I'm facing exactly the same problem.

When do you release the Service Pack 2?

I think this might be helpful for you. Take a look and see if it helps, the video explains how to manually scale the material to the size you need. http://help.sketchup.com/en/article/94877

You can use lens correction in Photoshop or this software

Currently, VR4SU doesn't support 2pt camera matching exactly as you see it in SU.

i am just a beginner in terms of VRay,
but there's one trick i use to align the horizon of the backgroung (see image below)
it's not perfect because it only stretches the image, but sometimes it works

you can stretch it in height or width... in this example i needed it to be 87% height stretch so the horizon was where i wanted

    1.jpg

but yeah, this is one of the things that is missing in VRay4Skp
this and a vray material picker

I always suggest modeling how it would actually be constructed to get the best results. If you have a concrete floor slab ant the walls are attached to it, then model it like that. Groups are your friends and so are components. Also make sure all of your faces are oriented correctly so that you don't run into problems with back faces facing outward. Really, there's no wrong way to model in Sketchup for V-Ray, there are just more and less efficient ways to work.

If you share your model here I would be happy to take a look and give you some more tips!

So there is a trick to this.

    A) Create a Diffused layer, place a copy of your bump map in it, set the transparency to TexAColor (make it white)
    B) Create another Diffused layer, make this all of your gold settings w/ bump, spec etc.

    C) Sketchup will see the first diffused layer (will show up as your bump map). So you can scale it as needed, but when you render it will show up as gold.

If you imported as an image and not a texture, that might be the issue also.

Try out some of the free trail rendering software and then if you need something more specific there are plenty of people to here to help. Understanding what it is you can't do helps to understand what you want.

Thank you valerostudio but I have done this step by step as you have written and it does not solve my problem yet 😞 When I apply saved material from VRay material library, texture is in scale, but renders flat. When I add vrmat with the same diffuse but with other layers and parameters texture is rescaled again (25,40cm x 25,40cm not 80cm x 80cm). The other way around is the same (first load vrmatt, then apply material from paint bucket). Tested in macosx and in windows.

"This is only available in 2.0, 1.49 did not save the material settings with the SKM file" I have 2.0 so that is not an issue.

Once again, I have vrmat (with all layers and parameters) and skm (textured properly) files. I open a new scene, want to load them both to work properly, not to make additional moves in SU. Especially when we make a new scene on different SU on different machine.

I tweaked a few materials, ran Presto for 18 minutes only GPU (did not use CPU and GPU as I wanted to test Titan on it's own at low priority)

Hi- res , clear, crispy image. At 18m 37 secs. That is impressive. Thanks for trying out.
Now I'd like to consider Titan.. and probably Thea too.

And I wish there's somebody who could tryout vray GPU . At least with these few infos, I can come up with a recommendation to my boss in terms of GPU hardwares

    Thanks a lot
