What software do you have ? Photoshop can help you with both. There is a Diffuse Glow Filter which you can play with and also a Lens flare effect under the Render filter.

And perhaps you want it done inside Vray, then, I am sorry for my misplaced answer.

This is the first image retouched with those filters in photoshop. If you have a well formed eye you will make it way better.

Thanks for the reply. I've never used the diffuse glow filter in PS, but I'll give it a shot. And yes, I was specifically referring to understanding how to adjust the Vray glare/bloom effects inside VfS.

And imabzeous, thanks for the link. I'm not really sure what to take from those images, and all the accompanying text is in a language I don't know... I know how to turn the effects on, and how to alter the weight, size, etc. That much is apparent from the sliders. What I'm trying to figure out is how to control the source of the effects, to limit them to the brightest areas of the image, and to perhaps set what that threshold is myself, if possible.

At the moment, I'm just working around this by saving the effects-heavy image and then raising color clarity in Adobe Camera Raw to cut down on the 'vaseline on the lens' appearance...

No kidding. I became like 800% better at Sketchup and Vray after 3-4 questions. This forum is perfect for someone like me.

sure, it's possible if you're on the same computer. If you only have one license you can only use one computer at a time. You may also be able to set processor affinity so you reserve some cores of one session, and other cores for the other session. (since vray uses all available cores to render, it may be pretty slow to run two renderings at the same time.)

(not sure you really need to worry about this now that we have 64bit support though) ๐Ÿ˜‰

thanks, Andybot. I had been putting it in the wrong spot... in fact, you made me realize I've been tweaking the parameters on my fresnel reflections wrong, until now! No wonder it felt like such a guess & check process to get the results I wanted...

That looks like low sampling of Irradiance Map. Put higher values (go from 50/20 to something like 80/40)

will try that setting. Thanks for the help!

try running the rendering with the glass dome hidden. Maybe do a material override render too. Something is not right with your GI calculation.

yes, try updating to the latest release. Do be aware that the demo also limits you to only few lights rendering at a time.

Are you running a trial version?

that's the likely explanation, resolution is limited in the trial version. You also get the lovely watermark on your image.

I have the same glitch sometimes in one of my files. It appears that there is simply no information on the blue channel.
For me, sun only never works again. however, if you put on an HDRi, it comes out fine.

CPU based but there is provision to use GPU for RealTime (RT) rendering.

Sorry but no... I tried with the file you provided, but came to the same conclusion as you, use a 17mm focal length override.

thank you for help anyway.. ๐Ÿ˜„

I just now read on the Chaos Group forum that with DR, each bucket calculates all the irmap passes individually, so you don't see the multiple pass with DR enabled. It is expected behavior apparently.

Thanks Ted for the comment. and I did contact sales and support from chaosgroup!
But the sad reality is They did tell me I have to pay for a new license fee, because its due to abuse of dongle license use. I think it really applies to Asian market. I told them it's not fair and it doesn't make sense. It really hurts customers at the end. a policy can be bad. you have to be brave enough to tell them it's wrong. I still don't like that policy at all, even though I really enjoying using vray for su.

I'm glad I found my dongle at the end.

There are some specific requirements that have to be met for us to replace the Dongle. I think your case was a special one which is why we were not going to replace it. I'm going to send you a PM with some more specific instructions.

    hi andy,

thanks for the reply. I tried another render with everything you suggested (except linear color mapping & resetting the gamma), and I even moved the TV stand 1mm further from the wall (which mathematically should resolve the same normals problem), but it looks almost the same and it took two minutes longer to render ๐Ÿ˜„ Also, I need to add, that in my previous post I ended with 32 subdivisions on the dome light; I'll probably edit that in.
