      Hi All
In my interior scene, I've placed 4 glass panels behind each other. Each glass panel has a glass materialisation. 95% transparant en Texfresnel reflection map.
In other words: The glass is transparant and reflective.
The renderings, especially in the areas where the glass is situated, take a lot of time. I mean a LOT of time. My last render took more than 2,5 hours to finish. (resolution 1024x768, not THAT extreme...)
I guess, because the glass panels are situatied behind each other, the computer keeps reflecting the scene indefinitely.
Is there a way to tell vray to reflect all the objects in the scene 1 time instead indefinitely.

      Suggestions?

P.S. Sorry for my english. It's not my native language.

Don't use transparency on class. Use Refraction. Transparency in V-Ray is not handled well. If its thin transparent glass, set the transparency to 0 (white) and and a reflection layer with a color filter if need be, but don't use transparency.

          Ted,
I created the material within sketchup. A standard grey-green color where i set the transparency to 95%. Then, within vray, I created the fresnel reflection. I did not use the transparancy option within vray.
You're mentioning not to use transparancy within vray. does that include the transparancy controled within sketchup?

          Thanks again!

Ted is referring to the transparency in the Sketchup material editor. If the glass material is not at 0% opaque, you will exprience longer render times, especially with multiple layers of glass.

              Ok. Understood.
I've never worked with refraction. Saw a youtube video last night for the first time. Looks fantastic. I'll try to switch from transparancy to refraction as soon as possible. I'll keep you posted!

              Thanks everybody.

Thanks for the clarification Andy! Emn, Try using refraction, but if you cant figure it out we have some materials you can use as a reference on the website, http://www.chaosgroup.com.

There is a good discussion on vray glass material setup here.

Forgot to say - you can set how many times the glass reflects/ refracts with the "refraction max depth" setting. In global settings, you also can set "Max transp levels" and a refraction override.
