Why would you ever manipulate a texture outside of the engine? Is that what you are suggesting? You should never have to correct them outside of your engine, my understanding is that you have to tell the engine to correct them because VRay is using 1.0 Gamma. I just read this tutorial and it is all starting to make more sense to me. http://www.aversis.be/tutorials/vray/vray-20-gamma-linear-workflow_01-old.htm Based on what is being said here, my guess would be that you should NOT tick those on as long as you have Input Gamma set to 2.2. Although maybe you need to tick them on for Correct RGB? I guess it might be worth a couple of test renders with it on and with it off. If you test it, post your results. I just have never understood it. All I know is that if I export to EXR and use Linear mapping with clamping turned off, I can get what I need from Photoshop as far as correcting lighting goes.

I'm afraid there is no tool as of yet that does this. I'd recommend you file it as a feature request to QFT: https://bitbucket.org/thomthom/subd/issues/ It'd be a good addition. Or possibly see if Fredo would be interested in looking into if it could be added easily to his JPP.

Skatter works great. You can choose whether you see the grass in SU (not preferable) or only show it when you render. So the viewport stays responsive. And rendering is quite quick as it uses proxies. I noticed that the pursing time for V-Ray takes some more time when using a lot of skatters. You can limit the skatter to only calculate what you see through the camera. You should really try it out and take some time to explore it. It is worth it IMHO. Regards,

I hope that OpenSubdiv will improve texture mapping. But I've yet to see - I need to get it hooked up. But I'm hoping that OSD along with WrapR will make a killer combo.

Hi All Here is another test example of an interior scene, done with Render[IN]. In addition to the sun light shining through the door, two neon lights provide the necessary lighting. I am really impressed how easy a sufficient interior lighting can be done because this is always a real challenge and always related with a great amount of trial and error - at least for me. The render time for a resolution of 2880 x 1620 was 40 minutes which is ok as well I think... [image: YhDE_StairsHO.jpg]

@rich o brien said: Maybe a dynamic component would help. Thank you so much for this suggestion. I quickly discovered how to build a dynamic component that creates copies in one direction using the scale tool. Any suggestions of how to use the same trick on the same components in the other directions? I would think that the "copy" counter will only be helpful in one direction. Is there a way to nest a dynamic component to accomplish this?

Try sub-dividing your grassy faces into smaller sections, this will help with displacement issues.

KT is not so user friendly and full of features as Thea is (haven't tried it), still it has a lot of power and control, and it's possible to pick up and get results pretty quickly. KT has a LOT more to offer than most "free" software.

Something is messed in V-Ray Options or Material Editor settings. Save your settings first, then go back to the V-Ray default settings and try to render with Override Materials checked and unchecked then. If there is a problem in both you will have to introduce your settings one by one to see which option causes the problem. There is no way around it, I guess.
