I have not tried to uncheck the tile option.
You probably want to check with ASGVis if this options works in VfSU.

Also this is super basic... but it's worth mentioning -- when you turn the Shadows on and off in Sketchup you are enabling or disabling the sun in your Maxwell environment... regardless of whether you had it initially turned on in the Maxwell settings.

Vray doesn't render big models, with materials created with vray material editor. Small models, example objects taken from Warehouse, it doesn't have any complain. There are many issues that is fixed in the current beta. Contact ASGVis support and report your problems so they can investigate.

Paint.NET is a pretty straightforward, easy to use yet quite powerful freebie. I have more robust apps (like Gimp for instance, which is also free) but I have Paint.NET set as my image editor under Preferences > Applications in SU for quick editing of textures.

Yes - 1.48.xx updates are free. You can even update from the very first VfSU release. It'll detect your old license.

1.48.66 to 1.48.89 is just a service release.

I was telling You - when You compare 30MB lighting faster Rhino with 1GB memory hog, slow and buggy AutoCAD...And v5 has improved their render a lot. And You gonna love Rhino layers - You can have sub-layers and sub-sub-layers - it is real tree structure. You can hide objects per layout viewport - not just by layers. And speaking of the pure 2 drawing capabilities - Rhino has much more drawing tools compared to AutoCAD. Not to mention the huge import-export file formats - truly open system, not like AutoCAD where they expect everybody to use only dwg format!

Shameless plug for City Engine Vue. This is amazing technology for creating entire cities procedurally. Plus, it's available at an incredible price of $299 ($199 for C-Club members). The technology normally sells for $500 to $5,000. Here's a quick render I did in Vue with City Engine:

It's due to a bug in the latest VfSU build. The beta builds has fixed many things since .89. But do submit the model to ASGVis so they can test the model against their internal build so they can ensure they have corrected the error that caused it.

When SU/VfSU runs out of memory it crashes.

You can purchase a SketchUp exporter that takes your file and saves it to a Vue file. THen Vue opens it and you can use it in Vue. You can add trees and plants in Vue, or whatever you want to do in Vue. Then render.

If you don't want to pay for the plugin, you can also export from SU as a .obj file, then open that in Vue and it comes in fairly well much of the time.
