I've got some tight deadlines coming up, so having Vray on a second machine will help immensly You want to render on two computer at the same time to reduce render time? That's what you got the Render slaves for. Install the render slaves on your available computers and use them when you render. Note it requires the machines to be on the same network. But it means you don't need extra licenses. No, it's so I can work on a laptop back home and then continue on a desktop in the office. Though network render should prove very useful with dozens of computers available!

@jonny round boy said: [cut] I'm using the PLE version of ARmedia, and SketchUp7 for Windows. The included target is 80mm square, but when I load a model & import the target into SketchUp the virtual target is 2032mm, ie 80 inches (unit preferences in SketchUp are set to mm). This means that any model I want to view at actual size, I have to scale up by a factor of 25.4 (25.4mm = 1 inch). I don't know if this is an issue with just me, or if it's the same for everyone. Is there a way for the virtual target to be reduced in size? I tried scaling it in SketchUp but it just defaulted to the bigger size. If you check the 'Fit Scene' box in the AR-media Configuration Utility, during the AR visualization all your scene will be automatically scaled to be contained within the virtual marker's boundaries. To access the Configuration utility, you can click on the second button from the bottom of the toolbar or click the 'Configure...' button in the menu/main window. Hope this can help you resolve this issue.

I have not tried to uncheck the tile option. You probably want to check with ASGVis if this options works in VfSU.

Also this is super basic... but it's worth mentioning -- when you turn the Shadows on and off in Sketchup you are enabling or disabling the sun in your Maxwell environment... regardless of whether you had it initially turned on in the Maxwell settings. Best, Jason.

TWR doesn't have build-in motion blur, so you'll need to make this in post pro...

we should choose the 5 best plugin scripts writers who contribute their times over the years and reward them a dollar per member to show our appreciation of their hardwork. I am willing to contribute 5 if everybody on the board does it.

@andranaita said: I have the new vray, and i am using sketchup 7 pro, on a Mac OS and i have a problem. Vray doesn't render big models, with materials created with vray material editor. Small models, example objects taken from Warehouse, it doesn't have any complain. But a previously created big model, with lots of groups and materials, it starts to process, and after a few minutes it stops. It doesn't even open the framebuffer. It just stays still, and then nothing happens. I've tried debugging methods form vray, and still nothing. thank you There are many issues that is fixed in the current beta. Contact ASGVis support and report your problems so they can investigate.

Paint.NET is a pretty straightforward, easy to use yet quite powerful freebie. I have more robust apps (like Gimp for instance, which is also free) but I have Paint.NET set as my image editor under Preferences > Applications in SU for quick editing of textures.

Yes - 1.48.xx updates are free. You can even update from the very first VfSU release. It'll detect your old license. 1.48.66 to 1.48.89 is just a service release.

@tfdesign said: I tell you, Rhino is the AutoCAD killer for the Mac. It's so much faster than ACAD Mac. Thanks for the info Jeff. I was telling You - when You compare 30MB lighting faster Rhino with 1GB memory hog, slow and buggy AutoCAD...And v5 has improved their render a lot. And You gonna love Rhino layers - You can have sub-layers and sub-sub-layers - it is real tree structure. You can hide objects per layout viewport - not just by layers. And speaking of the pure 2 drawing capabilities - Rhino has much more drawing tools compared to AutoCAD. Not to mention the huge import-export file formats - truly open system, not like AutoCAD where they expect everybody to use only dwg format!

Hi Guys, Shameless plug for City Engine Vue. This is amazing technology for creating entire cities procedurally. Plus, it's available at an incredible price of $299 ($199 for C-Club members). The technology normally sells for $500 to $5,000. Here's a quick render I did in Vue with City Engine: [image: CityEngineScene2Cars.jpg]
