glad you found what you needed That is indeed the case with channels - vray gives you separate files. You then have to combine them yourself in PS. The only exception to that is using vrimage, which combines all the channels in one file. From there you have to use the converter to get an exr file.

Vray shows a black tecture when V-Ray cant find the diffuse maps. You need to open the material editor and then go to diffuse maps and relink the image file. Have a flick through the manual here http://software.asgvis.com/index.php?option=com_docman&task=cat_view&gid=561&Itemid=536

scaling textures for vray is done with the native texture scaling in SU. just right click the face with your material, choose 'texture' and then scale away. or better yet, in the SU material dialogue, adjust the exact measurements of the jpg image. you can change the displacement parameters in the material to determine grass 'length.' i suggest searching for related questions at http://forum.asgvis.com as the topic has been covered numerous times and in more depth than i have here. that's the best place to get answers to your vray related questions.

What I have seen so far is AO, IBL, bumpmapping, all sorts of animation, AR, videotextures... ...a lot of potential. I also like the 3D product catalogue, it is a good example for how much is possible. Thanks for sharing this Tito, and all thumbs up for a tutorial! (see you tomorrow, gotta sleep) a.

Can you post a picture of the light fitting showing: 1.What type of light (Rectangle, Omni, IES) 2.Where the light source is positioned in relation to the fitting. Then I might be able to help ya.

Increasing the amount of application memory at the expense of system memory isn't likely to address memory problems in Windows XP 32 bit. It isn't the general application paged pool memory that runs out in most cases. Applications that have a Graphical User Interface must allocate GDI OBJECTS and USER OBJECTS (GDI=Graphics Device Interface). There are limits on the number of such objects that may be created by any single process and there is also an overall per session limit. Per session means a session desktop for a logged on user. SketchUp makes heavy use of such objects. Other applications such as Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer are also very heavy users. When the maximum limit for User Object or GDI Objects is approached the system will begin to degrade. It doesn't usually crash but certain functions such as the clipboard and right-click context menus will stop working. You can see here how many objects are being allocated by various processes: [image: process_exp.gif] The only way to recover the ram used by these objects is to close the apps that are using the space available. Internet explorer is particularly bad in this respect. Firefox isn't any better. The best browser that I have tested is Opera. It uses far fewer objects when multiple tabs are open. Existing allocated GDI and USER objects will not be deallocated until all instances of an application are closed. The situation becomes even worse if Terminal Services is running. Then the GDI ram is allocated from the unpaged system pool instead of the general application paged pool and the number of allowable objects drops dramatically. In fact, if Terminal Services is running then using the Large Address switch on XP will make the situation much worse. Bottom line: There is no benefit to using the Large address switch on Windows XP 32 bit and that probably includes the 64 bit version although I am not certain of that. References: Process explorer is a part of the Sysinternals Suite available here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb842062

@mitcorb said: From SUPodium Site suplugins.com/help-v2.php: "System Requirements for the Mac and for Windows requires SketchUp 7 or 8. Mac version will require OS-X 10.5 or above. The V2 engine is multi-threaded meaning it will take advantage of all your CPU core's. You also need a reasonable amount of RAM to hold 3d scene data. The more RAM you have, the more complex models you can render. However, currently SU Podium V2 is a 32 bit application. Therefore any RAM above 4 gigabytes will not be used." Thank you so much for the info!

If you keep it in perspective view but change the angle to very close to 0 say 1deg you might be able to trick Vray into rendering it with physical camera still.

Adam! You are the man! I have been waiting for this feature for the Windows OS for some time now! Will this application require LightUp to work... or will this be a stand alone application? Awesome!
