Great news, but I could kick myself!!!! I downloaded the beta a few weeks ago but have been so busy with work I did not get chance to try it out. After thinking about it earlier today I thought, just buy it while it is at the lower price. On going to the site earlier I realised it had gone up in price by around €100. I forgot it was 1st March it went up. I need to save up some more money, or stick with Twilight

I'm glad to see I'm not alone with this problem. I tried out the latest version of V-ray, to see what it would make of all the vegetation I do with alpha transparency. The load time for SU increased from around 5 secs (even loading the previous version of V-ray) to nearly a full minute (or so it seemed). Needless to say, I uninstalled it again. Maybe I'll give it another chance with V-Ray Toys installed. I've also noticed that I get error reports generated if I quite SU8 after a V-Ray render...especially if I quite very shortly after. It tells me that SU has stopped working; of course it has...I just closed it.

I was actually trying to find their development roadmap when I stumbled on this. It looks like cool software,and I was interested if they had exporters in the plan. This kind of puts the breaks on for me. But I still have the "Fur" plugin.

What do you want from a renderer? Photoreal quality, ease of use, fast rendering, cheap/free? So, the answer to "which is the best renderer" is: it depends on what you need. From the sound of it you seem to be new to rendering so I would suggest a renderer that is easy to use and cheap to get you going. If you want it to be free I suggest Kerkythea. Cheap and easy to use, my suggestion is Twilight (it's basically Kerkythea but directly from within SketchUp). Photoreal (advanced), then it's Thea or Vray. If you go for one of the more advanced you should be prepared to put quite some time into understanding how to use it fully. There are lots of more renderers and I'm sure others will fill those in.

But afaik know it is mainly for allowing it to work with newer versions of SketchUp. I have been retired for some years now, and rarely use it nowadays. Hi, I have a similar issue. All renderings turn white, after saving the file. Vray for Sketchup 3.40.01 and sketchup 2017 on Windows 7. Any ideas? Thanks, Greg

Better late than never. I have had this very same problem too. The only thing that i can think of to fix it is navigate through c:/program data/ASGVIS/vrayforsketchup/Textures and locate the file Google Earth Snapshot and deleted it. That way vray will be forced to create a new file. Or at least i think it will.

Update: I dumped the gigantic box, as the dongle is the only thing that matters. June 12th update: It looks like I'll have to dump the dongle, too.

I use a png alpha image on all my 2d trees. This is what is concerning me. I'm sure I have done everything right as far as that goes. These objects worked fine on a image I did a few weeks ago.
