    BlenderGIS can get you pretty good images.. you do need an API key to get set up but it's all free and you can even generate 3d geometry based on the elevations in the satellite images.. it tiles in blender so you the more you zoom the better the image quality to a point.

    Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

    Yes. This was announced months ago. 31 May was the last day. You'll need to upgrade at least to SU2014 to have access to web-based services such as Get Location and the 3D Warehouse. See: http://help.sketchup.com/en/article/3000177 It's not a bug so I moved your post.

    SOLUTION You guys can hammer out what change could be made to fix this issue but I got a reply from the folks at engineering toolbox. When you click insert and nothing happens you can fix it by refreshing the page. Right click in the page and select "refresh". After that the insert will work. Maybe this can be added to the plugin somehow? But anyhow this gets us back to work. Thank you everyone for your time!! Mark Henry

    Wow, thanks for all of the great input! I do these models mainly for conceptual visualizations in the preliminary or promo phases of projects. I recognize that a Civil 3D/3DS Max workflow would be better for something like this. But I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around that stuff at the moment. I wish I could understand French. That guy is doing exactly what I need to be doing. Thanks so much everyone!

    Hello Buckyman, what you ask, can be done. Actually I have a working prototype that works like a charm. As a server you can opt for windows or mac. Sadly not linux. The main problem here is more a legal question that comes with Sketchup being remote-controlled.     if "C:\Program Files\SketchUp\SketchUp 2015\ShippedExtensions\su_webtextures.rb" (and according subfolder) is not avail or blocked by a security solution resp. missing user rights, this may result in the described effect too. install SU again by "right-clicking > run as admin" in connection with the Windows user account which should be used for running SU (i.e. not e.g. an admin account). ensure, that plugins are not disabled at "Window > Ruby Console" by: is_disabled = Sketchup.plugins_disabled? ensure, that JavaScript (not Java) is not blocked by a browser plugin of your security solution.

    DropBox has this feature for quite some time. If you want to do this locally without the cloud storage you can use Tortoise SVN to manage the version control. I just use CloudUp or Save As Copy to keep a history of files

    you may have more luck exporting as 3ds and use 'assimp' from Terminal.app to convert to dae...

    ohh thank you for the link. when i googled it i found Bezier Curve, that was the mistake. very helpful plugin 'Bezier Spline'. thank you. what i was doing is using 1001bit to redivide by placing guide points, then i use connect guide point plugin.

    I often find that it helps to disable "super rounding at corners" and enable "respect strict offset as far as possible" in the grey settings bar at the top of your viewport when using roundcorner
