    @Rich-O-Brien Thanks Rich. Now I know that I can share the link with Fredo6 on the Animator thread so he can download the file and look at it (to hopefully identify the problem I have been having trying to generate a video). You might also try generating an Animator video and see what results you get.

    Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

    Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

    Also, tried running install a second time, selected "Repair", still no go. Dead in the water until Tech support replies to my request.

    I've been a away for a few days... I also noted that the tree/plants etc were well CAD layered, so you could turn them off in the model to drape just the road lines etc... Glad it finally worked

    I saw this comment by thomthom about another plugin but it seems pertinent to this conversation - "I haven't used the tool, but common convention for tools is to create the entities they create within model.active_entities instead of model.entities. It also allows for the best flexibility. Since it is the convention with the native tools and pretty much all custom tools it is confusing if the geometry is created in a different context." Seems to me that SolidTools clearly violates any conventions that are normally in force. KrisM

    So it's been a couple months since last reply and I was wanting some recent feedback on the app. I was given an iTunes gift card and since SU is my passion just wondered what others thought of it. PS Most of the reviews at the App store seem to point to the 3d warehouse being the only way to view models. This is not a problem in my case as I only want to view my models for clients. The App store page doesn't say much about the use of scenes to navigate with in the model any experience there?

    Zoom out and you will start to see the true origins of various components appearing at some distance. The origin of a group or component needs to be near itself or you get clipping etc.

    Sketchup 2013 file will not open properly in 2014

    The initially released version of SketchUp 2014 for PCs, was found to have an issue if the SKP was opened from a drive which wasn't the same [system] drive on which SketchUp.exe and its related Tools folder was installed. It also unexpectedly had other issues with reading Plugins folders when there were accented characters or single quotes in your User name. A new updated version is available from the Trimble download site - it addresses those issues. So if you get/install that and still have these problems then maybe we need to look deeper...

    It is possible or not, it is better to keep everything clear. it is a "bad" habit of autocad users who expect everything be like autocad.. I.e. spacebar in 3Dsmax will be a nightmare for a noob, (it will lock the last selection) and it is "pan" in PhotoShop..... better to use competition car for competing and personal car for ordinary jobs not like a tracktor.

    Thanks for the tip about paste in place into a file. I use paste in place a lot when I am modeling for different reasons but never thought about trying it in a new window. I didn't realize it would work across files. I don't think it will work for my current issue because I'm just making very small adjustments and I need the rest of the model to reference but it's a great thing to keep in the back of my mind for later because you never know. nice tip

    This has been covered repeatedly here on SCF. You shouldn't just copy plugins from SU2013 to the SU2014 installation. Many plugins required updates to meet Ruby 2.0 standards. Probably the best thing you could do is delete the plugins you pasted into the the SU2014 Plugins folder and start from scratch. Using the SCF Plugin Store's tools will make that easier.

    Maintaining constant width in an offset

    ok - so i re-launched sketchup today and tried curviloft along spline and like magic the toolbar came back. but when i tried selecting edges with the loft along path tool to check out the offset option mentioned above, the progress bar returned. maybe i need to find info on exactly how to use the loft along path tool. but the bigger issue for me is needing to click two faces and instantly create an offset with equal width as i build ductwork systems from measurements i take from 2d cad-created duct layouts. no time to build a path between faces. thank you for your time gents.

    How to update a model in 3D Warehouse

    I made a script for t his years ago.. model-id.rb Each model on the 3DWarehouse has a unique ID. Visit the model in the 3D Warehouse, copy the ID and paste it in the Model ID plugin dialog. Then when you upload the model, it will replace the one on the 3D Warehouse. [image: mF3B_2014-06_66.png] [image: jSW1_2014-06_67.png]
