Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

I would export the gemetry as 3DS , fire up Blender and before doing anything I would have a look at this fantastic tutorial . It sounds very similar to the scale you are working in http://yorik.orgfree.com/tutorials/urbandesign-blender.html

You should start with these settings because every scene can have its unique settings which is inherited when a new scene is created. So if you already have your scenes, you should do this setting at every scene and update it.

Maybe that's the reason @unknownuser said: Backup March 12 restored Sent at: Thu Mar 13, 2008 6:26 pm From: Coen Naninck To: Registered users Dear SCF user, Unfortunately because of a bug in the forum software we experienced major technical problems that were irreversible. Our solution was to restore a server backup made yesterday, March 12th. Because of this, we lost 68 newly registered members. If you know any of these members or see questions in other boards about this (for example PushPullBar, Google Groups, Etc.) please notify these people of the backup restoration and that they can safely re-register here. We apologize for this issue, but are happy it has been resolved now.

Hello again! Indeed there were a couple of threads about this topic, I had a closer look now. And yes, my model was very big, I was doing a very large sea plane that would be as near as possible to the horizon. I've already reduced it quite a bit and the problem got quite a lot more manageable. Thank you all for the tips!

I noticed after performing the intersection command on group 2, and deleting the section plane and half the pipe, the green element at the intersection with the vertical pipe appeared to have hidden edges. In fact, when I clicked on a surface of that object, it selected the entire green object, as if it were an object or component. I think that is why the intersecting face is not being created. When I recreate the two pipes and intersect them, I don't have that problem.

The reason why I thought it made since was because sometimes colors are listed this way and it seems to make sense to enter info in 1 box vs 3. Photoshop has this flexibilty I just recently discovered.

If the EULA says you cant redistribute it, i wouldnt get your hopes up for publishing it yourself. Definetly worth gettign in comtct with the SU team to see wether theyd be interested or not, as this could add some major functionality to the program. I suppose the only caveat would be if you wanted to charge or not, which would be pretty reasonable as far as im concerned! So i reckon, just talk to the SU team and see what they have to sya aobut it, im certainly gunning for you

nothing beats podium - sorry, its true. I'm sure there are more "advanced" tools, but for people looking of a get-to-the-point easy to learn program, podium is good.

Thanks Boofredlay. I have turned off "Enable length snapping" and set "Precision" to 0". Same results. I'm working on a small house model. I'm beginning to suspect I don't have a powerful enough computer. I'm using an optical mouse with about 3-400dpi, a 128mg video card, slightly less than 1gig RAM and a 7200rpm HDD on a 100mhz bus. AMD 1.7ghz P4. There is no room for more RAM (poor mobo design). Nor can I upgrade the cpu for the same reasons. I might be able to upgrade the vid card. I'm thinking about going with something that uses DDR. I had good results with a customer's computer after installing one for them. The HDD is brand new. (Seagate Barracuda) I have a 19" LCD monitor. In other words, it's an old computer.

Explode them first, or convert them using the Express Tools to non-dynamic blocks before importing the file into SU. There's no way around that. To my knowledge, no other CAD or modeling program outside of AutoDesk's own products imports AutoCAD's dynamic blocks.

A circle and a polygon are pretty much indistinguishable in 2D. Same number of sides and all connected into a single 'curve' object - if you explode either type the sides split into individual edges... However, a circle and a polygon differ if you extrude them into 3D forms - using pushpull or followme etc. A circle is a smooth curve and extrudes faces in 3D that are also smoothed - i.e. the edges between the facets are not normally visible. A polygon is not smoothed and so it extrudes faces in 3D that are separated by visible edges. However, you can hide or smooth these later if desired...
