For those who have problems with materials and lights in Su2Pov, the following: As previously documented regarding placing the lights: First be sure that a copy of the Su2Pov folder is in the Su components folder. Use the <esc> key after selecting a Su2Pov light fixture to produce a cursor that will locate the light. The "edit Pov-Ray Finish" menu is available if you start Su by selecting a project.skp with your mouse. If you start the program before opening a file, the menu may not appear. Once the program is started in this way, the menu is available, until you shut down. The dos screen flashes from time to time when the feature can not be accessed. Make sure that you edit component or group for access to a material. Aside from always starting the program in this way is to make a shortcut of a untitled.skp, rename it SketchUp, and change the folder icon to the Su icon, place the shortcut where ever you start your program from. The drawback to this is that you can not start Su by dragging a file into the shortcut. If anyone finds exception to this, let me know and I will edit this post.

@remus said: ...i might just being feeling particularly lazy tonight. no doubt about you being lazy, remus what you would like to have sounds pretty much like tha maya workflow. you hit the extrude face command and get this weird handle thing, that lets you rotate, scale and move (relative to the original face, so that moving "up" means "away from the face"). makes only sense if you can push/pull several faces at once. because then you can move/rotate/scale all faces arround their indivitual centres simultanously. so if you selected all the faces of this sphere and extruded, then moved it upward, you would get this funny shape (you can currently do that with normal push/pull). but with your idea, if you now scaled them down to lets say 0.1, all the spikes would suddenly become pointed. or if you rotated them, they would all twist arround their individual centres - phantastic! [image: extrudeselectionro7.jpg] I don't know of a way to do that in the current SketchUp version just with one operation. one great way to implement this into a future SketchUp version would be to right-click on a multiple face selection with the push/pull tool active and select "extrude faces". like that you don't have to introduce another button and the interfaces keeps it's simplicity...

I have updated the code... The procedure you wanted is not possible without problems... Pages don't always keep their active layer. Here is the new procedure : Read the components and their names. Create a layer : the name is the same as the first component + "- sizes" (A layer called "Leg - sizes") Repeat for all components. Create a "Scene 1" if it does not exist already. Create a scene with the same name as the first component. (A scene called "Leg" is created) Repeat for all components.

As soon as you take another tool, you freeze the previous on the screen! So you can only save it as a 2D image or 2D.5 file (3D object are only save by Tool/save If you want now save (or export) your previous 3D object, just click it in the Tool box, and save ( or export it)!

great idea for a plugin. allthough I am not sure if that is possible with SketchUp allone. can SU cut a texture into square pieces on its own? I doubt that. I would love to be told otherwise though

It seems this can also be done using Round Edge plugin in 4 steps Push Pull the shape by a height H Select upper face and Round Edge with radius H / 2 Select lower face and Round Edge with radius H / 2 Clean up some remaining edges (due to bugs in Round Edges) [image: HKqY_RoundShape.jpg]

@juanv.soler said: i understand your pain @didier bur said: Hi, Something like this ? <!-- ia3 -->bissectr4.gif<!-- ia3 -->[/attachment:3py8nirk] If we know the lines (even 2 of them parallel), we can calculate I, then create the circle. Do-able, but not now (too much work on other projects). Hi JuanV.Soler and D.Bur, Thanks for the reply, you understood me exactly. If I try to draw it manually (use only the primary sketchup drawing tools), firstly I draw circle A, get poit B and C, then I draw circle B and circle C with the same radius to get point D, line AD is the bisector of angle BA/AC, with the same method I have line EF, now I get point G, intersection of line AD and line EF, which is the center point of the circle I want (which tangent to the three lines) <!-- ia2 -->34.jpg<!-- ia2 -->[/attachment:3py8nirk] but as you can see in the picture, because sketchup use segments to form circles, obviously segment AB does not equal to segment AC, and line AD is not the exact bisector of angle BA/AC. within the script "k_tools.rb" by Klaudius there is a function call "Angle Division", this helps finding the exact biscetor of the angles, also the exact center point of the final circle, but problem still remains, <!-- ia1 -->35.jpg<!-- ia1 -->[/attachment:3py8nirk] I draw a circle from point G perpendicular to line AE, so T2 is the exact tangent (and intersection) point of the circle and line AE, T1 and T3 should be the other two tangent/intersection points, yet, again, because the circle is made by segments, I'm not able to get intersections of the circle and the lines. This is much clear with a circle with less segments, As shown in the above picture, the circle with less segments (12 of them) does not even touch the lines. And, normally we want a model with less segments, right? The following picture shows what I want/got finally. Or what if you export the coloured parts separately (with a transparent background for instance) and overlay it onto the greyscale parts in PS? (I know it's just a workaround but easily doable).
