i see those splotches in the floor and maybe a bit in the dark panels in the middle too.. try to render a separate raw gi pass, to better see how gi is working overall.. assuming that everything else is fine in your irradiance map AND light cache setup.. i would try to reduce the color treshold value and see if that help..

[attachment=0:2lpq4snm]<!-- ia0 -->Capture.JPG<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:2lpq4snm] Thank You so much for posting this screenshot. All this while I was fiddling with the GI setting in the environment tab. Thanks for bearing with me. I now entered "zero" as the values in saturation and I'm getting white finally at last. I'm a novice and a dummy when it comes to v-ray. It's been four years and I still haven't been able to get grips on this rendering plugin. But now life seems good with v-ray.

make sure you have an image name specified for the output. Go to the "Output" settings, check the "save output" option under Render Output, and type in a filename.

Is there a way to save all of the channels for each scene render? THANKS! @davidlouis said: fbo_bern, i'm assuming you're refering to a batch render process. This is what I have to offer on the subject... Step 1 Window > model info > animation. 1.1. Enable scene transitions 1.2. Set scene transition to 1 second 1.3. Set scene delay to 0 seconds Step 2 VRay for sketchup render options > Output 2.1 Pick preset or specify output size 2.2 Under the Render Output sub option, enable 'save file' and specify output directory and file type. (VRay can not render out a move file but rather a series of stills which can be combined into an animation in video software if required) 2.3 Under the Animation sub option tick the 'on' box and choose a 'Custom' frame rate specifying the FPS value as 1. This will effectively render out 1 frame per second which when combined with the sketchup settings from Step 1 above will produce 1 frame (still image) per sketchup scene Hey presto! Batch rendering achieved. The VRay specific switches could be saved as a visopt file for future quick call up... Please note: This process has its limits as I have found out through trial and error that any layer visibility or object visibility switches set to occur between sketchup scenes are not effected when VRay works through the scene list whilst changes in sun settings are. This is important to remember if you plan to push a button and automate things overnight as you may come back next morning and be dissappointed. Further still it seems that the active sketchup scene selected when starting the vray batch render process will set the precedent for the subsequent scenes rendered in terms of layer and object visibility. What this means is that if you start on a scene where an object/layer is hidden, in all subsequent scenes this object/layer will be hidden too and visca versa, despite the sketchup scene settings and switches being correct. I suspect this is a VRay issue and hopefully is something that will be resolved in the pending new release! If you don't have any tricky layer/object visibility changes between scenes then this works a treat! Hope this helps.

Thank you for the reply Rob. Unfortunately iOS does not support the program you've suggested. I guess it's not the V-ray part I'm stuck on... yet! Just finding a catalog of files i can successfully download onto iOS. and once downloaded, finding a way to view them.

Rich, definitely a command dialogue interface.. I am a newbie to rendering so forgive my naivety. OK So I went to the official maxwell forums and found out that the easiest way to automate a series of renderings through the maxwell software is via a simple script.. Point 5 on http://support.nextlimit.com/display/mxdocsv3/SketchUp+FAQs?_ga=1.169530145.1813411637.1480071096 Script is pasted into the script dialogue box and let to run.. Hey presto! I can't believe I stayed awake all night to manually start each render!

@pbacot It was indeed a black hole. The whole building was a group and I accidentally painted the whole group with a dark material. So all the standard (white) material was replaced. I also replaced the glass material with another one. I'm pretty happy with the result now. [image: MB61_straatkant.jpg]

you should have that same texture in the diffuse, then you can see it in sketchup viewport so you can uv-map it with tru-paint, sketchUV or something then turn off texture in the vray diffuse.. it should work.. (that's basically how it works in 3dsmax vray.. if i'm not wrong there is some trick to do the same in vray4SU, like adding the texture to a second diffuse layer and then assignign transparency to it or something like that)

@andybot said: It's the "size" value in 2.0. Default is 1.0, that's what you want to increase to get soft shadows. Okay, I'll try it when I get back to PC. Thanks for answering. One more thing, is there any way I can export just the shadows from vray render? I can export raw shadows from native sketchup Jpeg exports but have no idea how to export shadows from vray. I believe that making blurry shadows in vray will increase rendering times, so I am thinking of doing it in photoshop with the "shadow only" export. Still not sure what technique exactly will save my time when I have just one PC for the job.

If photo realism is what you're looking for in a render. There are 4 aspects to it: 1.Model- go as detailed as you can .. round the corners and edges, make sure there are gaps between objects so no clashing between objects. 2.Lighting. Make sure light source is balance. Try not to do much dummy light. let every light come from a pre-defined source, say window, lamp, etc. Unless you're doing a studio render, decide which time of the day you like to project in your scene. Materials- In reality, all materials has some degree of reflection. leaving one without reflection will make it dull.- Be conscious also of your mapping and texture scale. Vray settings- try to go higher settings (not the default) add Ambient occlusion and use the in-built color correction tools in the vray buffer. It will greatly enhance your image if you use photoshop. Even the best of the best in visualization use these tools. Invest time in reading the manual and do tests yourself. you'll be amazed at what you can discover. The easier way though is to download some render-ready models. and see the settings. You can even grab the materials that you like and include in your library. these are the basics but there are hundreds of parameters you can experiment on.

the parameters you need to adjust are more likely the ones in the IMAGE SAMPLER (ANTIALIASING) rollout wich manages the sampling geometry details, texture details and stuff like that. this is quite different from global DMC sampler wich is more involved in manging the sampling of blurry reflections/refractions and stuff like that.. actually i think you need some basic concept about sampling, antialiasing and more.. try to google for this.. there is a lot of stuff online.. like this example links.. you may also want to read the fantastic manual on the chaos group website? theory: http://www.interstation3d.com/tutorials/vray_dmc_sampler/demistyfing_dmc.html practical implementation of the concept: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pak8wx7KNEA
