Maybe a late answer but have you look at the RAM usage? Displacement eat a lot of memory and since I started testing displacement my ram usage use to go up to 95% and CPU to 20% and then I have 16 gb ram. That is a model of 40 MB, with a mush bigger model and some displacement it is sertanly ram usage that slows down the process.

I think the question has more to do with the modeling software. In Max - the sun is just another lamp in the model that you can manipulate. In Sketchup - the sun is not present in the model, and the only way to adjust is are by the "shadows" settings.

the problem can be about materials, because not all the materials have the same effects in your attachment(floor looks quite nice). probably most of the materials have something wrong in common, try to replace one of the materials with a simple one and give it a try. If it also have the same problem, make your window non-transparent and add a ies light inside the room, so we can see if the problem is about your window or light outside.

the thing is it was all fine and i dont know what exactly went wrong , i was editing the ISO and a vray rectangular light settings and then it appeared ,
i will try to override materials and see if the problem still exist ,

That is an 'ı' not an 'i' ?

In earlier versions of SketchUp using a non-ASCI character in a file or folder path was 'fatal', but in newer versions this can be avoided if the script's coding 'forces' the passed path to a file or folder into an acceptable UTF-8 format...

So I suspect that this particular extension has failed to do that step.

Contact the author and point out that his current code fails to encode strings for file or folder paths properly as UTF-8.

It is a relatively easy fix [at least for the newer SketchUp versions]...

Hi there! Change the time settings in the Shadows panel. Usually setting the correct time zone, will get you correct day light.

I've tried it both ways with and without a dome light and the sun angle seems locked at an odd and unnatural angle of about 5:30 AM.... (the sun is set in vray to +/-5:30 PM in June, in Seattle so trying to shown a little light on the north side of a building)

I've since tried to turn on/off GI and several other things that might affect it. Maybe its overloaded or corrupt, but I've done bigger models before.

The rendered angle doesn't change if I change the time in SU.

Odd. I'm now copying the model into a new environment to see if I can work around.

If you want to to this all in render, you need a sinmple plane as a base and you have to apply a Wrapper material to it.

Search youtube for a tutorial, you'll find plenty 😉

Are you lighting this with an HDRI Sky? If so then your HDRI is probably higher than your model, so either drop the HDRI or raise your model.

And share those proxies when you're done. wink wink

My suggestion is to not use displacement on brick. You really want to reserve displacement for things that are

Bricks can be rendered much faster with a bump or normal map. Try plugging your diffuse map into this website and create a normal map, put that in your bump slot.

I believe it is due to the fact that the trial of Vray only allows 2 lighting elements in a scene.

Ultimately it comes down to personal preference.

Typically if you have a lighting fixture, you would try to use an IES light to produce the most accurate lighting pattern for that fixture.

Rectangle lights are good for when large swaths of light are required in one single direction, lots of people use them to simulate the exterior light coming in through a window, or for product renders as studio "softbox" lighting.

Sphere and Omni lights will produce, as the name suggests, a surrounding light, similar to a bare bulb.

My best suggestion would be to make a simple scene and just play with each type of light to see how it behaves.

hmmmm... .ok, I found a leftover proxy that had one of the cars in it as part. I thought I'd deleted all the cars in a test to see if I could get rid of all the ghost cars. no luck till I found this proxy and deleted it. Now they're gone. I guess I should learn more about proxies. I think I'm ok now, though now quite understanding why. I will read up.

You can re-link the texture either in the SU material editor or the vray one, either will work. The specific path will depend on where the texture file was originally.

How did you do it? I've got the same issues like yours.
