VfSU does not have tools to modify geometry - you need to use other SketchUp tools for that.

Emmisive materials are not meant for main source of illumination. Use light objects for the actual illumination, and use emmisive lights for visual effect. V-Ray, being biased, will do less samples in dark areas, as one usually doesn't see details that well in darker area. Which is why when you have a fully dark night scene you can get these artifacts while in a dyalight render with the same settings you won't see them. You should be able to place the lights inside the light bulb, but have you assigned a fuly transparent glass material? In Sketchup one usually use a partially transparent material, while in V-Ray the diffuse should be 100% transparent and an reflection layer. (also an refraction layer if you use thick glass)

I use V-Ray Toys to load VfSU when I need it. As I start SU frequently, but need VfSU loaded only a few times. And it seems that loading older VfSU scenes takes longer the first time - as it needs to convert to the new format. Appears to be quicker after it has done this. (This is just my impression.)

I resolved the Issue after some experimenting: I turned down the GI from 1.0 to 0.5 which reduced the sunlight and hence the "blowout effect" on the Ivy leaves. The other solution would be to turn down the amount of contrast on the original leaf component. Turning down the GI also produces sharper shadows, hence creating more contrast in your scene. I finally ended up with great contrast, with GI set to -1.0

The last render you post are quite good... It is missing some grass at the base of the container, a background, some soft shadow on the ground and a more realistic sky. But light and shade, and exposure of the structure are quite good in my point of view. Wait and see the progress of this project of yours.

I think if you were trying to create that optical banding-effect of the material, you'd need to get creative with a procedural and fresnel effects. As far as just the sheeting, I think the previous posts have got it right, and you could also consider a bump or displacement map.

You can use the Outliner and search for V-Ray lights. If you type in "V-Ray" you will see any instances of lights.

Cararra does nice volumetric lighting too. Bonsai3D's rederzone too.

I wish you would not use all caps titles for your posts.
