Ta folks, it is the ai thing.

My design, mea culpa. Similar in concept to the hotrod I did some yonks ago but oriented towards track days.

Working on a studio setup for Rayscaper so hopefully some renders then.

    Coen,

Many sincere apologies. Sorry about the image size man. I didn't read your previous message regarding file size - i'll be more careful in the future. Please remove my original image if its size is burdonsome.

As far as posting the ruby script....honestly i'm a architect naive in the ways of mischeavous scripts. Fortunately the people who download the script I posted have reported no anomolies in the script because I posted it in the exact way I recieved it. I'll try and post the link to the script itself next time.

Again sorry about overstepping boundaries on this forum....no offense intended.

That's not "cheating" - that's the way everyone with a little routine shouldwork in SU - to save time for the client!

Thank you all. Not much change but here's the most recent version. the center door has been moved to the front. All that's left to do is the drawer boxes and the drawer guides. The guy for whom I'm drawing this wants to see it with overlay drawers although I would like him to build it with the inset drawers as I've drawn it. Once those things are done it'll be time to make up the working drawings for him. Hopefully I'll be able to post some images of the real thing one of these days.

very nice Kris, what i like is how you always introduce some organic elements.
i think you could allow this stair to be more organic though, since the open space around the stair is free flowing.

Thanks Craig. I have the same story as everyone else..."SketchUp has really done wonders for my career" If only I could corner the market... πŸ˜„
Eric, you actually downloaded the animation? HA...wasn't sure if anyone would bite. Yea, its pretty cool and was part of a powerpoint presentation I put together. The final is going to show the final site map and then zoom in to each product location model complex and rotate. However, I was playing around with Google Earth and found out I could import my site map into there and get the same effect, but with a much greater radius obviously. I am going to see about placing my site map and then putting models in. I just don't know how well GE can handle that many models. It's all in testing for now though..hehe.

As for the colors, I was told those are "standard". Even though I'm not in land planning, I do a lot of his graphics and see the same colors over and over again. I looked at your image and tonewise, yea, pretty scary how close they are...haha.

Gosh, I miss this place. Well, I really should get back to work. πŸ˜„

Go to the KT Forums and lurk and lurk... I do that too and learn a lot.
Also there are very good tutorials materials in PDF format.

Vray and MentalRay are also, under normal circumstances and use, 'biased'. But I do not expect them to result in lower quality than other more popular 'unbiased' engines.

In fact, Mray and Vray are so popular in the industry because of their amazing speed and quality... kinda why I like them and KT too. πŸ˜‰

'Unbiased' does not mean 'better' it means 'unbiased'. In fact, Giannis (developer of Kerkythea) stated
    @unknownuser said:

here's a small lesson about unbiased rendering:

Unbiased rendering was first introduced back in 1986. Yes!
It was not introduced by a commercial renderer. Just marketed
nicely (but this is just my opinion).

Writing an unbiased renderer is simpler than writing a biased
one! Yes! Developing a path tracer or even Kelemen's MLT is easier
    than writing photon mapping.

There are many more unbiased renderers that you can think off!
Virtually all ray tracers can turn to unbiased rendering relatively
easily. Sunflow for example can operate in path tracing mode.

Overall! I see users reproducing the same information found in
commercial leaflets but never digging a bit more in theory or.. history! Wink

    best regards.

The idea of a 'biased' render is that it makes some assumptions, and tries to give you what it thinks you want... it's, you know, biased... in a good way. πŸ˜‰

The idea of an 'un-biased' render is that it calculates bounces of light until they stop boucing... so if you have bad materials, this will 'bias' an 'unbiased' render engine in a bad way... but with a 'biased' render like KT's PM+FG it will be more 'forgiving'... especially with the higher quality presets. This is because Giannis and the team have put a lot of work in getting them to give a less-render-experienced user quick and easy presets.

The presets are not, of course, meant to be a silver bullet, but they are meant for you to load and learn from. Nor are the lower or medium settings meant for client presentation (though I do it all the time because, as Dave pointed out, they don't know or probably even care about the difference because KT's PM+FG is an amazing machine).

BiPT and MLT and MLT/BiPT and PTP are meant for a scene with less direct light...

MLT cranks very well on scenes lit completely by indirect light... but of course, so does PM+FG.. and with the right tonemapping, well... it's great...(Vray and Mray, as far as I can tell, have the right tonemapping, etc. already built in and transparent... KT is working on this...)

BiPT handles caustics (like sparkles onto a wall from an adjacent water surface) well, depending on the light source, in my experience, and PTP is much faster with exteriors lit with only sun and sky... so each have their advantages.

You can't expect to learn a sophisticated program like this in a day or even a year. You can get great results in a day, and better in a year... but I still learn new things all the time. πŸ˜„ that's part of the fun.

May want to read more at comparison thread between many engines...

Well, Jackson, I've never attempted an interior in Vue (well, almost never) - so you're the boss when it comes to those! πŸ˜†
I would say you still need to increase your AA even more... IMHO...
did you try the 'optimized' button?

Plus, a scene with reflections of spatial edges, and reflections of reflections of spatial edges would be a good challenge for Vue's AA capabilities.

btw - Tom, very good images, for Vue interiors - I'm impressed, but wouldn't attempt it myself. I only use Vue if I need animated water, sky, and vegetation... otherwise for still it's KT all the way. I can get interiors or exteriors finished and ready for the client (after my Su model is done) in as little as 30mins. I Wouldn't attempt an interior from Vue in that time frame. πŸ˜† But Jackson could probably do it!

Fletch, I don't mind sending you the model or the xml file. I didn't change any of the carpet settings when I rendered this one. I thought if I didn't change it, it would just be flat and not do what it continues to do. Let me know how you want me to send it to you. Thanks a lot!

Here is another I let render last night Fletch.

Agreed. I am actually working on that now. I will be adding HRDI for the lighting set up and a background image as well.
