It's how the plugins are written. It's a real simple fix (a line or two of code) but since the vast majority of writers are on pcs, they don't realize they need to add this little snippet for macs. Some people have began including it (fredo for instance) and I've edited a couple of rubys to work right on mac but a couple of them are encrypted so I just deal with it (or keep the script unloaded until I need it for a particular session) anyway, you might want to ask the writer to include the necessary code. I'm on a phone right now so searching the forum is cumbersome atm but there are threads here that outline what needs to be included.

@unknownuser said: Hi, The sidewards 'S' or ~ is telling you that you're actual measurment is less than what you read in the VCB. For example, let's say your model units is set to millimeters with a precision of 0.1mm. Therefore SU will only allow to draw in increments on 0.1mm. Now you draw a line 11.6mm in lenght the scale that line by a value that would result in it been 11.56mm in lenght. Now because your precision is at 0.1mm it will read it at ~11.6mm but not 11.5mm If you change your precision in 'Model Info' it will find the lines exact lenght. I think i'm right but i'm not 100% Hi Rich "I look but I didn't see" should be my motto, how embarrassing. Instead of my question 'sideways S' all I had to do was press '~ #' key! Thanks for explaining that, I know now I won't be making terrible mistakes. I've learnt the hard way before. John

Just a wild guess, but could be the axis of the site model and the inserted model be 90 degrees apart? However, have no idea about the random order of sides.

See the thread on Cloud.rb and See the thread on points_cloud_triangulation. Do a search in this forum. I am not sure what the triangulation script is officially called. And I think these are used together to form the contoured surface. Something about doing this in manageable chunks so you don't choke the engine. Maybe this helps as a quick response.

Are you actively seeking to open 0.skb? If so, the .skb file extension is the sketchup backup file, not the working file, which is .skp I believe you already know this, so--pardon my repetition above. I have had similar problems but primarily with a usb storage device which either was running out of capacity or which had some other undefinable problem. But you are talking about file use between two computers. My GUESS is that the file should reside completely on the machine you are using, and you should save your work on the machine you are using. Then, if you wish to update the file in the original machine, you should then save a copy of the file to the original machine. Again, this is just a GUESS. Could someone else confirm?

Yes, I also have SU 6 installed (and separately licensed). Then I also have SU 7.0 and 7.1 separately installed, too (although their licensing is not separate). So you can have a whole bunch of versions installed separately and you can even run them together if you wish. Note that if you double click on an skp file (and launch SU this way) it will always try to launch the version you saved anything in last. Also note that while you can open SU 6 files in SU 7 (and even "save as..." a v.6 file), you cannot open a v.7 file in SU 6. I think that's all.

@ruturaj said: How to get thickness the group........? 1 draw two rectangular 2 then select two rectangular and make it group but how to depth two rectangular without open group ..... any body help me Thanks ....... if you have no thickness applied to your grouped rectangles then you cannot add thickness. If you have applied thickness then you can use the scale tool to increase it's thickness.

XRay mode seems to be a good 'solution' to a problem resulting from trying to get coincident 2d surfaces to behave in a very precise way when by definition they may not be able to: one on top when there is actually no top even if sometimes it seems like there is, or at least that's how it seems to me. But with the X Ray you can see and snap to your drawn lines on the back side of the image. Does drawing in XRay allow you to do what you want to do?

Hi Emy, I'd have to recommend staying away from any ruby scripting until you are familiar with SU. Not many people really ever get into it. As for smooth transitions, that is a little bit tricky sometimes. The main thing to do is try to keep the distance between all scenes approximately the same. And dont have any sudden camera u-turns. You can right click on a scene and choose "play animation" and it will try to play your animation for you. This can help get a beter feel for the animation before you take the time to export it. Also, try exporting it at a low resolution with a low frame rate (15 for example). This helps make a quick render of your movie, that you can check to see if your camera passes through walls, or is too jerky ever. Those are the main things you can really do to help make a slightly smoother movie. Try that and see if you make any progress. Chris
