Correct. We have to direct the license server to the folder where the licenses are, this bat file does exactly that.

I gave the free versions a test run this morning and all I can say is that I really really hope that the new VRay plug-in developers are taking notes. I really like the GUI and I feel that Maxwell stuck to Chaos by coming out with this plug-in before they could release a new V-ray for SketchUp plug-in. I sometimes feel like I am using an old program from 1995 when navigating through the V4SU plug-in interface. Unless you have a few years of experience under you belt, you are really adjusting settings and values and hoping for the best. I have said this before and I will say it again, for a $1000 rendering plug-in, V-Ray has got to be able to at least give us something that these other engines are providing in regards to features and UI. I sometimes think that the hefty pricetage pays for the trusted V-Ray name and engine code and thats about it.

I was differently, QMC isntead of DMC. But both where slow. It might be required in come cases where higher accuracy is required.

Yup, that's another option too. I have the old subdivide and smooth plugin, and will likely upgrade to artisan when I start playing with SketchUp some more. Right now I'm in Rhino mode though, so I believe this was the first time I've used the subdivide and smooth plugin since 1.49.01 of VfS was released. That test sphere took a lot longer to make than it should have. I'm getting rusty

Yeah, I only use it for final renders because of the huge increase in time. I put the map as bump map until the final image.

Try first to disable "Refractive GI Caustics" under indirect illumination roll-out. Looks like caustic artifacts. Cheers!

The other thing I was able to determine was that my edge length was set very low (4) for the resolution I was rendering (4k pixel wide render). As soon as I turned it up to 10 it was much faster calculating. Can you guys share what settings you typically use in order to get the best speed and best looking displacement. I know its all dependant on the map and what you are looking to get from it, but in general for a high res image. Is it something as high as 10 or higher?
